Summary
The Squawk had become their cover, their communication hub, their war room. Robin did the actual broadcasts mostly playing music and reading pre-written community updates approved by the military presence in town, but the real purpose was the coded messages. Steve had helped her set up the whole system, spending hours figuring out how to get all the sound effects she wanted, taping things to walls and attempting to MacGyver random things around the station.
That was just who Steve was, but looking around the room now, Robin wondered more and more if anyone else actually saw that.

Steve Harrington hasn't been entirely truthful with his friends. He has hidden his intense fear for water after everything happened at Lovers Lake. He doesn't want them to know how weak he is, considering he's been anticipating Vecna's return at any moment.
So when he's roped into going to the beach, he's prepared for anything the Upside Down might throw at them.
But he left himself completely unguarded against his own body.

Summary
Steve didn’t want them to know. He didn't want them to know why he couldn’t drive them anymore, why he kept ditching them, why he was acting strange and dodging questions. But now he’s at the Byers for dinner and he can feel the aura. He can feel the seizure starting.
Or Steve has epilepsy after too many concussions and he hides it from his friends until he can’t hide it anymore.

Summary
"Give your mother some rest," Robin jokes, head sticking out of the kitchen. On a normal day, Steve would be able to take yet another mom joke, would've followed it with a laugh, or a snarky comment, or just a sigh. But he's in fucking pain right now and can’t find it in him to even pretend to put up a mask.
“Rob,” He croaks, voice coming out weak, feeble, a stark contrast from the bite that laced it earlier. The yellow light shining in the Henderson’s living room is a tad too bright, and Dustin and Erica’s fights, and Robin’s teasing, is a little too much right now, and the floor is swaying like he’s on a moving ship. Coloured spots dance around his vision, and his hands become all tingly, a feeling that then moves down to his shaky legs.

He thinks about the relief in Eddie’s voice when he said he had a hunch about Steve’s whereabouts, like Dustin is the chosen one for understanding what makes Steve tick. Eddie’s joked about it before; he’d called it “sibling telepathy” when Dustin had silently communicated his popcorn order at the movies, and he’d nudged Steve in the ribs when Steve’s nose wrinkled meaning Gross, dude. Then Steve had huffed a laugh, nudging Dustin back. Okay, okay. I’ll pay for it, you little shit.
But Eddie gets Steve, too, Dustin thinks; that’s why he called him. And yeah, it’s different than the way Dustin understands Steve, but it’s significant enough for Eddie to make the cut of Steve Harrington Interpreters in Dustin’s mind.

"Steve?" Nancy grabs him by the shoulders, the same way he did not too long ago. Not now. Not here. Please, it's too soon. We just got out of the last one. "Steve!"
His eyes find her, glassy but present.
Silence has fallen across the bedroom all of the sudden. She can feel everyone's eyes burning into her and Steve, who is gapping like he can't find the air to speak.
The next one strikes close, light and sound mixed almost as one, making her window tremble. He shakes too, inside her grasp, and suddenly Steve —who barely breaks a sweat while running across forests and dark deserted lands— is hyperventilating.
"I-" he tries. "I don't- I can't-"
Breathe. He can't breathe.

Steve has a panic attack. And everyone else panics over it.

Summary
With the events of Vecna over and dealt with, and Steve's injuries finally dealt with, Steve and Dustin head back to Dustin's mom's house. Dustin Henderson has become concerned about how Steve is about his own life given the events around Vecna and the upside down and the pattern that he has noticed ever since he first met Steve.
There is not much in the way of plot, more just a bit of introspection from Dustin about how Steve treats his own life.
This fic takes place after the events season 4 is over, during which Steve obtains no further injuries and things are generally fine.

The bat is back in his car. He has a shift at family video in a few days. It’d be unbelievable if it weren’t the fourth time he’s been through it and he didn’t know what to expect by now.

The house, overlooking the Graveyard of the Pacific, has its own long and violent history, but do its ghosts really mean that the Upside Down has found a new, wide open Gate?

The first time Robin noticed it, Steve was helping a customer at Family Video.
He was in the middle of a sentence, i the middle of a transaction behind the register when his eyes drifted up towards the ceiling and his voice trailed off. His jaw shifted around and he chewed on his tongue.
It was like he was completely vacant.
It lasted a few seconds, and he snapped back in, finishing his sentence and continuing the transaction like nothing happened.-
