(Part 1 of 3)
When Rick is 8, he visits his family out in the middle of nowhere Georgia and gets lost in the woods. He stumbles upon something he isn’t supposed to see, and is saved by another little boy that gets him home safely.
AKA: the story where Daryl continuously keeps Rick from getting killed as they grow up, Rick is a nosy little shit who doesn't know boundaries, and Daryl's family practices a bastardized version of Folklore Hoodoo and New Orleans Haitian Vodou.
The Dixon Family and their associates use this practice to prosper their bootlegging business, but their rituals are corrupt and their actions anger the spirits they communicate with. The forest and town become cursed, and the horrible things the townspeople do in their every day lives makes everything worse. No one discovers the damning combination until it's too late.

Summary
Prompted by @ssree: BH can't survive without competent protection (Derek/Scott isn't it). So, Stiles makes a deal with Peter: He'll make Peter an alpha in exchange for protection/turning for Stiles' dad, and Stiles stays with Peter as emissary/human packmate.
OR
Stiles wants to leave, he wants to go home and hide under the covers... he wants to go back in time and be blissfully ignorant again.
As always, he can't have what he wants and has to settle for what he needs.

John has never seen his son like this, or maybe he has, when Claudia died, but it's different somehow, more, and terrifying because he has no idea why. He's closed half the distance between them before he even has time to think it through, but it doesn't matter because Stiles has bridged the rest and flung himself into John's arms.
He falls apart like that, holding onto John so tightly that it's hard to breathe, but he can't care about that right now because his son is sobbing and chanting "Daddy," desperately into his shoulder.
[Or, the one where Stiles goes back in time to save the world, and surprisingly, survives to tell the tale.]

If so, you need this Britspeak to Amerispeak directory. I hope to keep adding to it, so feel free to put any instances in the comments that I'm missing so far. This is meant to be GENERAL advice, obviously there will be exceptions, but if you're a Brit writing American characters or an American writing British characters, take a cruise through and see if there are any word usage or spelling errors you might have made! I tagged the fandoms I'm in, but of course it could be helpful to any American or British fandom.
Note: I am American, born and raised, and have lived in almost every part of this country. Feel free to add your comments and suggestions, but if you start it with "Actually, Americans would never..." just know that I am laughing at you right now.
