Kiryu’s eyebrows raise in a show of astonishment. He can’t take his eyes off the mouthwatering sight before him even if he tried. “And the Staminan caused this?”
Something comes to mind – more of a rumour really, that the Staminan line of energy drinks causes aphrodisiac effects in a small number of people; and Kiryu thought this was just a rumour, having never personally witnessed these supposed side effects. Until now.
Kiryu's late night pick-me-up has some unexpected effects for Hanawa.

“Because…” Foolishly, he had left this part unscripted. The heat prickled at the back of Hanawa’s neck – he had never been terribly good at coming up with excuses on the fly. “Never mind, just come over.”

The plan was to drop Watase and his party off at Omi HQ, drive off to a service station, and wait for Joryu to contact him. These were simple enough instructions to put Hanawa’s mind at ease, and the long, endless stretches of highway seemed emptier than usual.
He drove on, silent except for the rumbling hum of the car’s engine.

His heart had skipped then, aching so deep in his chest he was briefly struck with the worry that he was suffering a heart attack. He began to open his mouth to respond, then stopped – as a Daidoji agent he was expected not to moonlight elsewhere, and surely Hanawa would recognise him if he spoke now. So he silently nodded his hefty hassaku head, and watched as Hanawa flushed even deeper. “I’ll take that, then.”
A fateful incident reunites Kiryu with an old friend, and compels him to consider his feelings for Hanawa.
