Soap’s mouth snapped shut, words bitten off with the click of her teeth. Her entire body was vibrating with nervous energy, and even through all her training, she’d never been this riled up. Every inch of her felt like it was on fire, and as Ghost leaned impossibly closer to her, one arm over her head, bracketing her in, she found herself simultaneously distraught and relieved that they weren’t quite touching. She wasn’t sure she would survive. She wasn’t sure she wanted to.

The thing about Newt and Thomas is that neither of them are really that good at being moderate. It’s a little all or nothing, and when you spend four years on the nothing side, you tend to swing pretty hard into all when the chance finally presents itself.
Which is to say, of course, is that the confession of feelings, first kiss, and first time all happen within roughly an hour of each other, and not even in that order.
