Clark heard it just as he stepped out the front entrance of The Daily Planet’s building. The sun had already set, a chilly autumn breeze dragging through his coat. It had been a late evening for him, catching up on drafts for his next few articles before some other emergency stole his attention from his work.
“Kal-el.”
He straightened, perking towards Gotham. Something cold gripped his heart as he listened for that familiar heartbeat. The voice was unmistakable; low, rough, and steady, one that grounded Clark almost as quick as Ma’s. In battle, hearing it usually meant there was a plan, that Clark could worry a little less about details; because the man he trusted the most – with his life and the lives of his family – had it under control. It soothed Clark when he faltered, bolstered him when his strength wavered, and steadied him when he teetered on the edge of sensory madness.
And that voice sounded afraid.
Clark was suited up and hurtling through the air towards Gotham before Bruce whispered again.
“Kal–” came his quiet gasp. “I’m sorry.”

Slick is gathering between his cheeks, a sticky, warm feeling. He feels Clark breathe in deeply behind him, his palms smoothing down to Bruce’s belly and back up, teasing along the waistband of his underwear.
“I can smell how wet you are,” Clark says, voice soft and deep. He plucks at Bruce’s nipples again, and Bruce can’t help the little moan he lets out, his head falling back against Clark’s shoulder. Clark kisses his neck. “I want you to feel so good.”

“This is Steve, one of my...co-workers,” Barton says teasingly. “Steve, this is James Barnes, the tattoo artist I was telling you about.”
Steve has heretofore been dumbstruck as he looks at James Barnes, because he is the most beautiful human Steve’s ever met, with the possible exception of Peggy 70 years ago. His long dark hair is pulled into a messy bun at the back of his head, and it frames the face of an angel, with a long-aquiline nose, a wide sensitive mouth, cheekbones to cry over, and a jawline that could kill at twenty paces, covered with a light layer of stubble.
And most importantly, large grey-blue eyes that light up and scan over Steve as Barnes shakes his hand.
“Nice to meet you, Steve,” he says in his husky voice, and this is where Steve has to remind himself how to be a functioning human being in a society.
“Good to meet you too, James,” Steve says, his voice only cracking a little. James’ hand is warm and strong and dry, and Steve could happily hold it forever. He does let go after a few seconds like a normal person, however.
“Bucky. Call me Bucky,” says James. “Everyone does.”
“OK...Bucky,” Steve says, and this time his voice behaves.
