Bitty had spent his entire life avoiding touching alphas as much as he could, thanks to his deep-seated fear that he would have an alpha soulmate whose scent he couldn't possibly be attracted to. So he really, really, wished this hot new alpha would stop coming into his bakery and being all sweet and handsome and flirting with him and ugh. It would be nice if the guy would at least come in when he wasn't wearing scent blockers, so Bitty could smell him and get over him.
Jack was one of a handful of omegas in the NHL. When he found a new bakery whose pastries smelled downright addictive, the cute beta owner was a bonus. Dating a beta man would be a risk, and he'd need to find an opportunity to ask the guy out when he wasn't at work... But Jack was starting to think it might be worth it.

FF Bookclub week 22: non/horny omegaverse
this took like 2 weeks to find in the tags, luckily the tag Non-Traditional Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics was usefulWe liked that this had more going on than just the omegaverse, and the characters felt in-character, and there were cute interactions that used the rules of the AU to be plot relevant! we really liked how it subverted what seem to be the trope's tropes, if that makes sense, with them both being omegas.

I like this, since it avoids a lot of what skeeves me out about A/B/O - there seems to be an inherent lack of consent in some of it.It was also interesting that they made different assumptions upon smelling each other, with jack just being unobservant and thinking it's a bakery smell (or bitty... smelling like pie??? ) and bitty following stereotypes about body shape
and then if i am reading this correctly, bitty thinks jack's smell is shitty's when they come in together? Classic Idiots to Lovers
