“Please,” Jungkook sobs, shaking violently, “p-please don’t, please -”
The king hefts the jewel with a sneer, then in one swift, merciless motion, he slams it against Jungkook’s bare chest at the same moment the court sorcerer roughly yanks the chain binding the rattling chain of bruising steel manacles around Jungkook’s wounded wrists.
Silence erupts around them, a pinprick of unnatural calm preceding a malevolent, vicious hurricane. Then with a roaring wail, Jungkook’s furious magic crashes back into him as he throws his head back and screams, and everything explodes outwards from where he’s bound. The walls tilt and sway, the space between them growing, shrinking, lilting. The guards cry out and scramble for handholds as the very air around them warps, twisting. The castle itself is rumbling, quaking, dust billowing down around them as rocks crumble down from the walls deafeningly and the air shudders and fractures, the entire foundation of the palace shaking around them.Bookmarked by bleepbloop7

“Are they soulmate marks?” he asks, watching Seungkwan stick up the drawings. An astilbe, an iris, the sunflower, the hydrangea, the bouvardia. “These people are all your soulmates?”
“They were,” he replies, stepping back to look at the wall again. It looks nice, with a bit of colour—maybe he’ll sketch their faces next. He’s decent at art, in this life.
“You’re like, nineteen,” Jihoon says, sceptical. “I would be surprised if you had one mark, never mind five.”
“I haven’t known any of them in this life,” he says, backing up to sit on the floor beside Jihoon, who watches him closely. “I don’t think they even exist here. I’ve tried looking; there’s no record of them, anywhere.”
“Explain,” Jihoon insists. “From the beginning.”
