"Oh?" Dabi taunts in that flashfire voice of his; and Hawks is reminded, yet again, how easily he burns. "Tell me, what poor little bastard's gonna be riding your ugly-ass coattails for the next few months?"
Hawks frowns, realizing he's just set up a question he actually has to answer. Dabi will find out anyway, won't he? If there's one thing Hawks has learned, it's that Dabi has his ways. Hawks can never hide anything from him, no matter how hard he tries, a fact that will someday spell his undoing –– but there's no way around it now.
Willing his fight-or-flight instinct into silence, Hawks reminds his sharpened feathers he's not here for either. It'll be fine. The worst part of removing a bandaid is the dread before you rip it off. Right?
So Hawks braces himself, and answers:
"Todoroki Shouto."

Hawks' doomed flight towards the sun is thrown off-course when he receives a surprise request from Endeavor's son, asking to be his work-study student. It’s not really his fault when he doesn’t move out of the way of a little girl walking on the sidewalk as he walks home from picking up some groceries at the little convenience store near the base. The girl doesn’t even cry when she gets knocked into, even though she’s small and from experience small kids cry all the time. All that happens is her grabbing onto his hand to stop herself from falling over. Dabi, because he's not looking, misses that the little horn on the girl’s head had been glowing the slightest bit as she’d righted himself.
He doesn’t think twice of it while walking back, actually, he doesn't think about it at all until he takes off his coat and is greeted with a glimpse of his pale, unmarred arms, the scar-free skin that he usually sees only on the tips of his hands running up the length of his arm to disappear into his t-shirt sleeve.

“Touya?” Hawks questions as he tries to piece together why the name is being said.
“Touya-nii, you’re so big!” Shouto says in awe as he hurries over to where Dabi’s standing.
Dabi’s legs give out. He’s overwhelmed by the image of little Shouto running to him. The tousled red and white hair, his ice blue and gray eyes, the soft skin of his unscarred face. It nullifies Dabi. Suddenly, he can only remember being Touya.AKA a fic where Shouto gets hit by a de-aging quirk and Endeavor charges Hawks with watching him until the quirk wears off, featuring Hawks' terrible child caring skills (thanks to his own terrible childhood) and a Todoroki sibling reunion
