Summary
“I thought…” George says and then stops. Is it weird to tell someone you thought they were dead? Probably. Alex Albon feels like far too much of an impossibility to be real. “I didn’t know where you went. You never called me back.”
And then suddenly he’s that little kid, sitting on Alex’s doorstep in the pouring rain, wondering what he’d done wrong, how badly he’d messed up as a friend that Alex would leave and not even think to tell him.
Fourteen years after Alex Albon had left him and racing without a word, George finds him at an art gallery.

Summary
Kendall wished he could envision any reality besides this Sisyphean one, any course of action besides leaping to his feet and running back up the hill that his father had just pushed him down. He was quiet for a moment, then added, “It’s hard to believe that Dad is so good at jerking our chains that it took us forty years to realize he was never planning on giving it to any of us."
Shiv held up a hand. “Thirty-four.”
“Thirty-six,” Roman muttered.
“I figured that one out in tenth grade,” Stewy said. They all looked at him in surprise, and he shrugged. “The benefit of an outside perspective.”

Summary
Tom listens to Greg descend the stairs and winds a hand tight into the duvet, swallowing back a heady impulse to call after him. He wishes that he’d been released on a Friday, then he could mope in bed behind a door while still getting to listen to Greg make platitudes all day.
Absence makes the heart fonder and all that awful shit. It’s just a lot, really, to be – He doesn’t believe this was a good idea, anymore, taking up a completely different life for his house arrest, no matter what it had seemed like under stress and dread of leading himself to fucking slaughter.
