"You know I'm cursed?" Satoru's mouth replies before his brain can catch up, and then he snaps it shut, embarrassed to say something so stupid because, obviously, he's in a magic shop, and this man must be the proprietor—the witch Suguru had recommended.
He's not one of the polished pretty boys that usually catch Satoru's eye, the arm candy that looks good in tabloid headlines and online spreads, but even as the nausea settles, Satoru's heart keeps right on racing, heat sparking in his belly that has nothing to do with the curse on him and everything to do with honey-sweet eyes and the sharp line of the man's jaw.
"I've seen a Dizzy Spell once or twice," the guy says, answering the question Satoru can't remember asking. "This one is pretty nasty. Ex-girlfriend?"
"Boyfriend," Satoru is quick to correct, leaning in a little bit closer, looking the man up and down. "But we weren't dating."

The first time Satoru splays his palm on Yuji's toned stomach and growls, "Fuck, I wish I could get you pregnant," he's expecting a laugh or a "that's weird", maybe for Yuji to point out in that matter-of-fact way of his that Satoru's barking up the wrong tree there since Yuji cannot, in fact, get pregnant.
What he's not expecting is for Yuji to look up at him all doe-eyed and earnest and say, "Please don't, sensei, I'm not ready to have a baby."

Some remnant of their vessel, like the last spasms of a dying insect, wished desperately to hold the child in her arms. Kaori had so deeply wanted children, a family.

Standing up, the man reached a hand out to him. He hesitated, but didn’t want to seem rude and took his hand. After being pulled to his feet, he held onto the stranger for a moment longer. His hand was warm and strong and something about it reminded him of walking through the festival crowds with his grandpa, clutching the old man’s fingers tight to not be swept away. It had that same firmness and familiarity. Like he hadn’t just helped him up but guided him, and he just couldn’t shake this feeling that he had been in this situation before. Having fallen down and then being brought to his feet again by these very same hands.
