A blur of movement and a rupture of light, striking and bursting wide enough to cover everything in Nanami’s vision, his arm raising defensively in front of his face as he fell back a step. It was barely a moment or two before the vicious wind died as quickly as it had begun.
He opened his eyes and lowered his arm.
Gojo wasn't standing in front of him anymore. He looked around, expecting the other man to have already moved towards the source of the attack, then – when he found the parking lot as empty as before – looked down.
There on the ground just ahead of him, his head covered in blood, was the strongest sorcerer in the world.

They were letting him out into the prison yard. It was Stella's idea, supposedly. Apparently being trapped as a brain in a jar, his every thought displayed on computer screens and every bit of knowledge he possessed ruthlessly ripped from him was having a negative effect on his mental state. Was making him depressed. Who would've thought? Now normally, they wouldn't have cared. As long as they remained useful for the company, nobody among the higher ups gave a shit about the psychological wellbeing of their employees. But apparently it was getting quite tedious for the scientists at Playtime Co to keep fishing for the information they wanted from him among thoughts upon thoughts on ways for him to die.

“It didn't with Suguru.” Mentioning Suguru is taboo, like fucking in the pews of a church before marriage, semen running down the bride’s legs before she’s made a wife.
“He was different,” he tries.
Shoko turns around, pinning him under brown eyes that have no give. “Why? Because his choices were his own and he still picked the wrong ones?” She leans back against the counter. “Or because you were in love with him?”
Satoru imagined an eternity for them stretched out like the horizon. He never saw the end until it greeted him with a hole in its chest and at least curse me a little at the end on its lips.
“The love is different,” Shoko says, “but the pain will be the same.”
In all the worst ways, Yuji is just like Suguru.
