The balcony was quiet, the music from the hall muffled by thick stone walls. The night air was cool, but Jhoanna realized she didn't feel the chill anymore. To her, the wind was a friend, a constant whisper of information.
Colet was there, her back to the door. She had shed her bronze armor, wearing only a simple black tunic that showed the intricate tattoos of olive branches and swords on her shoulders.
"Hindi ka ba mahihilo sa taas niyan?" Jhoanna asked softly.
Colet didn't turn around, but her shoulders relaxed. "I’m the daughter of Ares and Athena, Jho. Heights are just another tactical advantage."
Jhoanna walked up to the railing, standing beside her. They looked out over the valley. In the distance, the lights of the mortal world flickered like fallen stars.
"Salamat pala," Jhoanna said.
"Para saan?"
"For not treating me like an Other back there. Everyone else looks at me like I’m a statue or a weapon. Pero ikaw... You still look at me like I’m the girl who can’t hold a sword properly."
