The solution comes to him suddenly, a belated epiphany after one night of particularly late practice, staring up at the ceiling for so long in the dark that he starts to see shapes in it. It hits him hard, a clean break down the middle, a rupture that shines clarity on all the things he's spent the majority of this time contemplating. This unruly part of him that insists on being right, that denies the truth, that twists itself up into knots trying to adhere to everything he thinks Yeonjun would do– it has to go.

Somehow, out of all the unexpected scenarios Soobin has trained for, not a one of them included a gorgeous man propositioning him in filthy language. At any other time that might be a relief, given that Soobin’s grandfather had written most of the training program. But at the moment, it’s left him woefully unprepared as to how to react. Forget the training, Soobin’s entire life up until has left him woefully unprepared for this moment.
So when he finally gets his mouth working, what he says is, “I’ve never talked to you before. Chat or otherwise.”
Yeonjun’s hands freeze on his robe. “You’re not 10InchGod97?”
“No, sir. I’m Choi Soobin, and I’ll be your personal protection detail.”

All of him aches when he looks at Soobin and wants so badly to just hold his hand, give him an innocent kiss for good luck before the show. His heart twists knowing that if he did, Soobin would blush and push him away, scramble to distance himself, look around frantically to check if anyone saw. When they were getting dressed, Yeonjun had come up behind him, wrapping an arm around his waist and kissing his cheek. His only intention was to tell him good luck on stage tonight, tell him how handsome he looked, but before he said a word of it, Soobin shrugged him off and moved away, blushing. “Not here, hyung,” he’d said before turning his back on Yeonjun entirely.
Logically, Yeonjun knows Soobin is just being safe, that he has a lot of anxiety about showing affection.
But it stings.

Soobin doesn’t know what it means if Yeonjun wants him. Or if it means anything at all. Any more or less than that would-be kiss or his plaintive I love you. And it feels dangerous to hope that they really will continue this conversation tomorrow.
Because it wasn't really a conversation, was it? Just Yeonjun, drunk and lonely and high off of time spent with someone they idolize more than anyone in the world, nostalgic and horny and sentimental.
But that voice inside Soobin whispers, as he closes his eyes. “Maybe it’s more.” It’s the same voice that had convinced Soobin that maybe loving idols was enough to become one. That maybe if he loved singing and dancing enough he could be good enough at it, that maybe if he loved his fans enough he’d be good enough for them.
Maybe…if he loves Yeonjun enough, maybe that will be enough to make Yeonjun love him back.
OR,

Add Yeonjun to the mix - a rock enthusiast with black hair and green highlights that goes to the store everyday and leaves chewed gums underneath the shelves with his favorite albums - and you have the perfect combination to make Soobin turn into a ticking time bomb. The explosion was inevitable, expected even.

Yeonjun frowns. “Like, as a general concept? Or…”
“Yeah, in general, I guess,” Soobin says, fiddling with the corner of the blanket. “Do you think it works? Do you think it’s a bad idea?”
Yeonjun looks up at the ceiling for a second as he tries to figure out how to answer. He’s had friends-with-benefits situations in college, but that was an entirely different scenario. Now that they’re real adults, his gut response is different. There are too many variables, too few friendships that have survived into adulthood for him to really consider it.
“It depends on the friend, I guess,” he finally says. “If I was one-hundred-percent sure that nothing would go wrong, that it wouldn’t ruin the friendship, then sure. I value my friends too much to really risk it just for sex, though. It would have to be someone I really trust.”
