Phanora's fingers curl over his stomach, where the wound is slowly, very slowly, closing. Far slower than usual. He can just barely feel the brush of her hand. Light blazes around her.
The fear had gone out of him the moment Phanora had knelt next to him to heal the wound—he should be more scared that he isn’t healing by himself, but he isn’t.
“You are not dying, Johan,” Phanora corrects, but there's a thin sheen of ice to her words, displeased. “You are not permitted.”

Merlin’s skin is still cool to the touch, colder now, from the rain. Arthur swallows and wishes he had something to lay over him. The maids covered him in a blanket last year during the snow. Before that, the flakes piled up in the corners of his eye and the top edge of his tilted lips.
“He’ll be but three-and-twenty when we’re just about to die,” Gwaine says, looking down at his friend.
“He’ll be three-and-twenty for the next thousand years,” Arthur sighs.
He stands and smooths the wrinkles out of his tunic and trousers.
“We’ll be back for you, Merlin. Sleep well,” he says.

- Momijikawa always sits with his back to the kitchen and takes a look over Sakura’s shoulder from time to time. He also glances in that direction when he cooks, turning his head just to stare at this empty space in the living room that, as Sakura now knows, used to be filled by Momijikawa’s grandmother’s hospital bed. The bed must have been disposed off but no other piece of furniture took its place. The signs of his grandmother’s illness have been partially erased; Sakura, at times, still finds some labels that Momijikawa has yet to peel off the drawers.
“You know,” Momijikawa says when he’s done staring at the past, his eyes back on Sakura instead, “you don’t have to keep me company every evening.”
“I just don’t have anyone to eat with.”Or: Sakura decides to have dinner with Momijikawa every evening.

It’s unclear, exactly, what could’ve caused things to go as sideways as they did. Perhaps their sire was not as thorough as He thought He’d been, in ending them. Perhaps, in His haste to get away, He had not been careful enough, in passing on His gift to Nezuko, and her mother and siblings had also been given it through sheer exposure. Their sire was a gluttonous hound, after all, and their wounds had been many and deep. If Nezuko in her incubation could turn away from Him, perhaps the rest of them could, as well.
In any case, receive His gift they had, and turn from His sight they did, hidden away from Him and the rest of the world on their mountain.
Or: Muzan turns all the Kamados by accident, and Tanjiro tries to take it in stride.

“This is,” Mr.Tomioka starts, and there’s a hidden tinge of deranged agitation beneath his remarkably flat tone. “Completely unprecedented.”
“Pardon?” Tanjiro says, looking at him more fully. “It’s just porridge, sir.” Mr.Tomioka looks at him as if he’d slapped him across the face, all sudden, stinging shock and recoil. Tanjiro doesn’t know what he could’ve done to cause that.
