Summary
Billy’s irritated frown transforms into a stormy scowl as he mulls over the news. He’d put in the effort of feigning disbelief out of politeness, but he’s known George Harrington for too damn long. He’s watched the greedy, snooty businessman topple one venture after another in his desperate shuffle up the social ladder.
Eventually he takes mercy on his right hand man and sighs, tiredly rubbing at his temples with the thumb and middle finger of his left hand. “That bastard is really gonna let his only son die in the name of ten-thousand dollars?”

It turned out that Billy, unlike Steve, had managed to juggle it all: parties, popularity, keeping up his grades, and working his ass off at two part time jobs. So, while Steve was applying to summer positions at the mall and wondering what the hell he was going to do with his life, Billy was capitalizing on his new status as a legal adult and fighting not only for his future but for Max’s.
