When it starts, it starts quietly. It starts on an early fall day with a merchant returning from the desert, feverish and coughing blood.
Soon, symptoms start cropping up in Castletown in others who had contact with him. Hylian, Gerudo, Rito, Zora, it doesn’t matter. A cough, weakness, fever. Always blood. The plague starts the same.
And the plague ends the same.

Zelda took Link in, the dried blood on his cheek and underneath his fingernails. The faint remnants of makeup smudged around tear tracks and his bloodshot, still dilated eyes. The fresh bruises layered over the old, green ones and faded love bites.
She grasped his hands, pressed her forehead to his, and whispered, “I want to kill the other three evil sons of bitches that did this to us.”

While working at a brothel in the Wild West, Link and Zelda steal some science books, eat a few suspicious beans, fall in love, and go on a revenge killing spree.

She shouldn’t have looked. Zelda can’t stop chastising herself for it afterwards, cursing herself for her deadly curiosity.
Rather than Link impaling a variety of monsters with his silly purple sword, he instead has a very different sword in hand and is certainly not slaying anything with it.
