Gods, it was embarrassing. A flush, hot and prickling, spread from his chest up his neck, threatening to meet Viktor’s cool lips. He was grateful for the dim light. His body was reacting with a humiliating, adolescent fervor. The slow, wet drag of Viktor’s tongue, the playful nips, the utterly contented little sighs—they weren’t meant as seduction. Viktor was, in his own alien way, cuddling. Seeking comfort. And Jayce’s traitorous body was interpreting it as the most exquisite foreplay he’d ever experienced.

Viktor gave Jayce a few more minutes before grabbing his cane and hauling himself to his feet. The light was on under the bathroom door when he reached it, and he cautiously rapped his knuckles against the wood. “Jayce? Are you alive in there?”
He heard a groan from the other side. “Unfortunately.”
“Is something wrong?”
There was a long, somewhat concerning pause before Jayce replied. “I, uh. I got my period.”

Viktor pauses to write something down. He looks back up. “Are you perhaps experiencing insatiable bloodlust, too?”
“Umm… no?” Jayce answers.
“Ah, good.”
“Is that… a possibility?”
Viktor shrugs, completely unbothered. “A probability, actually. Although Dr. Reveck assured me that it would be mild.”
“Mild insatiable bloodlust?!?”
“Yes. He did not provide many details, but he appears to be using this strain of shimmer to engineer some sort of lupine creature with astounding abilities. Apparently the creature is driven to near madness by the smell and taste of blood.”
Jayce swallows down the saliva that keeps flooding his mouth. “Huh.”OR
Jayce and Viktor experiment with using shimmer as a cure for Viktor's lung condition. Things don't go as planned
