Summary
"Did you know, Chiara, my brother and I are hosting a party tomorrow evening? You ought to join us."
"I... would have to ask my grandmother," she muttered, still staring at the stage. Chiara was sure he could see her stress. She also knew he was utterly taken by her. That by itself was surprising, but the fact he had so casually entered her box, as if to confront her about it was worse. He knew of her engagement- everybody knew of it. Yet, there he sat, next to her in a dark, warm theater.
Horrible.
--
Everyone knows about Chiara's engagement to the currently off-at-war Prince Alfred. Antonio Fernandez Carriedo does not seem to care, though.

Summary
In the alley with her was a woman. She was a few inches taller than Amelia, with short blonde hair and what looked like a muscular figure underneath her jacket. The stranger, who didn’t even seem to notice Amelia, lit a cigarette. Amelia wasn’t sure what compelled her to speak, but she regretted it as soon as the words left her lips.
“That’s really not good for you, you know.”or:
Two strangers visiting Italy meet outside a bar. They might be in love, but they're both too thick in the head to realize.

Summary
They’ve been watching each other the whole show, Patrick sly beneath the brim of his hat and Pete not even bothering to hide it, just turning his face to gaze at him full-out, eyes limpid, instinctual like a plant to the sun. The air tastes like electricity, like the frisson of energy before a thunderstorm, and Pete feels like a photocopy of himself: poised here on the cusp of something that twenty years ago filled him with as much aching want as it does now.

Religion! Horror! Exorcisms! Piercings! And Gerard is a priest.
Disclaimer: I stole frequently and unrepentantly from Joss Whedon and the makers of various horror movies throughout this whole series. Also I am not an expert on the Vatican or medical-type things, so please accept my apologies in advance for all the wild inaccuracies I am sure you are about to encounter. If everyone could just assume this is the Magical Made-Up Vatican, you know, like the religious institution version of those tour buses that drive themselves and don't carry anyone but the band, that would be awesome.
