'Damian was aware he had a father. At least, in sense that most children have fathers. It had never really seemed to matter much. His mother was everything in a way most people could only hope to half measure to. She seemed to trail an aura about her person like colourful silks in the breeze.
Sometimes, when she returned from wherever she went, she would sit with him in the evenings and make him chai and let him run a brush through her long shiny hair.
Even more occasionally she would mention his father: never a name only a silhouette of a man. Like a fairy story or a shadow puppet show.'
No Capes AU, Damian gets sent to live with his father and has a hard time adjusting to his new family and accepting the way he was raised may not have been okay

“Richard, you have to remember me. It’s Damian.” The child begs. His eyes and nose are red and irritated, and he's dressed up in a suit with a crumpled white shirt, water drops visible on the white fabric.
“I don’t want to go back.” The kid argues somewhere between petulant and desperate. Ric’s head is starting to twinge warningly, he only has a few minutes till it escalates into a headache if he’s lucky and a migraine if he isn’t. Ric still doesn’t speak.
“I really, really need you today, please.” Damian asks and looks at him with that familiar expectant desperation.
or Ric finds an adoption certificate from when Bruce was lost in time and tries to get close to Damian again after pushing everyone away.

Damian had broken his foot and it had benched him from Robin till it was fully healed.
Damian had broken his foot, and in the two weeks since Bruce had seen him only three times even though they lived in the same house. They'd shared a singular conversation a brief good morning when Bruce had been up so long late had become early and Damian was leaving for school as he finally surfaced from the cave.’
