Summary
Lying in the snow, a light blanket of white dusting the top of him, he only colourful thing in his line of sight is the pool of red that’s dyed the snow around his head. His eyes focus on that for a good second, until he wonders why he’s staring at his own blood.
He doesn’t want to die, but his numb hands are tingling from where the warm blood in the snow is meeting his skin, and he’s starting to think that he doesn’t have a choice in the matter.
The man turns on the light in the car to get something, and there’s something that’s strange about the man, something about how he’s dressed, but Jason's eyes are instantly captured by the light shining through the windows, gently bathing the alleyway in its tentative warmth.
It’s the most beautiful thing Jason's ever seen. So warm, safe, comforting. It’s calling for him, practically begging for Jason to come over and let the warmth cradle him in a hug.

And he shouldn’t have, because he had been captured by people he hadn’t been looking for, but who had been looking for him.

“I found her in a crate,” Astarion says, shifting his grip to reveal a tiny slip of a kitten, sodden and shivering. His expression is bemused as he looks down at the little creature.
For all Astarion’s readiness to stab those deserving and undeserving alike, cruelty to animals bewilders him. Something Gale finds endlessly charming, not that he would ever say as much.

Dick turned and faced him then, showing off the frown on his face. “You need help, or B does and he’s too proud to ask?”Jason felt his face twist up and start to scowl. “B doesn’t know I’m here.”
Dick snorted. “Sure.”
“He doesn’t! I’m here because of him. I have this... thing that I need to ask him but it’s not about a case and—you have to know what that’s like. You were with him for so long.”
There’s silence while Dick inspected him and Jason found himself trying not to twitch, to brush back his cape or straighten his belt. He felt very small under that gaze. Miniscule and unimportant. “You want my advice on how to talk to him,” Dick finally said, voice flat.
Jason nodded eagerly. “Yes. Yeah. It’s—hard. I’ve only lived with him a few months and you were there for years. I don’t know how to—”
“You don’t.”
