For the first time, the night isn’t wrapped tight around her throat. How strange to be hand in hand with the sunrise when it’s Minthara, when it’s Shar, when it’s– well.
She’s too soppy to think right now. Instead she beds down into fine furs and feathers like a princess. Minthara shines with exertion above her– carved arms like marble in the low blue light.
“Come here, nightwarden. I’d like a cuddle.”

In the morning he would choose between walking on his ankle or another day of hunger before he could resupply. The next village to the south was larger and he thought he remembered a courier post. He’d pay to send off the manuscript. He didn’t like to keep them on hand for too long; Wyll couldn’t guarantee anything was safe while it was within his grasp.
