Summary
After failing to take down Rosetta, Kyojuro and Senjuro are one of the few Mayflies left. With Kyojuro's cradle destroyed, and Senjuro injured, an encounter with the Vultures is sure to send them to their graves. Instead, one of the vultures decides to spare them, giving them time to run.
A couple weeks later, the same man finds them again, offering something that was rare to receive in times like the ones they live in. Medicine for Senjuro's fever. And once the medicine hits, the man doesn't leave them.

Summary
The battle with Enmu takes just a few minutes longer, and Akaza doesn't manage to land the finishing blow on Kyojuro before sunrise. He's starving, and he doesn't care that a child watches their father die in front of them to satiate the hunger he feels.
He doesn't care until the child sees him as someone who is safer than her father.

“Um—” Akaza turns around to look at the girl, who was now back in the doorway. “Why did you…” he takes a second before he follows her gaze to the splattering of blood and brain matter.
“I was hungry,” he says simply, because it was just that. If he hadn’t been hungry, he might have not even cared to stop to look further into the house. “It’s as easy as that.”
