Nothing happened that night. Nothing happened for a long while, nothing happened until he was deployed elsewhere and the no-strings attached conditions got his curiosity evoked. It never led to anywhere, though. No one he met before the task force made him want to be involved in something other than his own life, selfish as it might sound to some, it had taken a long time for him to reach even a semblance of that peace, and he wasn’t ready to part with it yet.
Until Simon Riley walked into his life, and it felt like a series of small, culminating sparks slowly adding to an explosion grander than any he had personally witnessed.

It was good to stand there, being close again, sharing the same space. John‘s cheeks were red from the cold, the tip of his nose, too. No matter how beautiful the falling snow was in the English countryside, Ghost couldn‘t stop looking at John.
Despite wanting to trace his features, brush over the small drops of molten snow on his cheek, over his beard, he didn‘t. They were very much out in the open, their arms just covered by the railing of the tower.
I missed you, he wanted to say, but didn‘t.
The low baritone of Simon's voice reached him like a shot of whiskey burning its way into his belly, equal parts warm, comforting and intoxicating.
The words were soft, though, not a hint of cheek in them, and wasn't that curious.
He wanted to go to Simon, push himself into his big body like a little boy pulling a thick, familiar blanket over himself. Wanted to kiss him hello, but he stood there, unsure what kind of cover the dark gave them.
Missed you, he thought to say, but didn't.

Summary
John tucks his nose into the crook of Simon’s neck, cold against the fabric of his mask, and Simon can only hold him tighter, letting his own scent wash away every trace of the other alpha.
“Johnny.”
The name comes unbidden to his lips, Simon able to feel the shiver that wracks Soap’s body, the goosebumps that prickle his skin. John’s fingers tighten in his shirt, warm breath against the cloth at Simon’s neck. He’s so close, the scent of him soothing over Simon’s own skin like a balm to the ache that lives buried deep inside of him.
He knows he should say something, do something, but he’s frozen, rooted to the spot.
Johnny is his best friend. His best fucking friend in the entire world and while he knows the man won’t speak on what happened tonight, Simon is offering whatever comfort he can.
But maybe it’s not his to offer. Maybe the reason Johnny went out tonight is because he’s looking for something.

Ghost Team learns to navigate their new dynamic while facing down adversaries, reuniting with allies, and attempting to enjoy a little R and R before leading potentially into MW3 upon possible release.

Summary
Soap was huffing little sounds against his shoulder, his stubbled cheek mushed into Ghost’s pale skin, giving his handsome face a funny look. It was one of the most beautiful things Ghost has ever seen.
The light in the room that woke Ghost up (he forgot to close the blinds in his turmoil yesterday) was making Soap’s bronzed skin look even softer.
Safe to say Ghost was not feeling anymore sure of himself than he was yesterday night. Probably even less without the numbness of the bourbon. So he just kept on blinking owlishly at the man laying next to him on the bed that was decidedly too small for the both of them.
“Ah can feel ye thinking.”, Soap’s lips brushed against his skin when he talked, “Stop tha’.”, his voice was even gruffer now than usual, probably from just having woken up. It sent shivers down Ghost’s spine.
“You can’t order me around”, he actually could. Ghost would do a lot of things for this man. Everything.

He glances down just as the cabin lights shift, flicking bright white as the pilot flips the switches for disembark. Soap blinks, eyes adjusting to the brightness as the red gloom recedes just enough for him to see it.

There’s a pool of red beneath the jump seat where he’d been sitting, and a trail leading across the floor to where he’s standing right now.
“What the fuck—” Soap’s hand flies to his back, clumsy, and comes away dripping crimson.
His head swims. For a second he doesn’t comprehend it. He remembers the hits—two shots to his back, hard enough to knock the wind out of him—but the vest caught them. Didn’t it? His lower back is numb, nothing but strange building pressure, but the blood keeps coming, hot and steady.
He was shot. And he didn’t even feel it.-or- Desperate to prove he's worthy of the 141 (and Ghost), Soap overdoses on stims had has a bad time of it.

"You going to sleep on me again, Sergeant? Don't recall giving you permission," Ghost asks, slowly relaxing again once Johnny stops moving and he can see the back of his head again.
"And if I am?" He mumbles it with a soft huff of exertion, letting his eyes slip for just a moment before he shakes his head in clarification. "I'm not gonnae sleep on yis."
