Summary
Erik Lehnsherr has been 'fighting for mutant rights' for the last couple years. Some might call it terrorism, but those people were narrow-minded. Unfortunately, this means that when Magda Maximoff died, no one was able to locate him to let him know that his children were without a guardian. Charles Xavier was selected as their foster parent instead, and had been doing an excellent job for the past year. Erik is back now and has no intention of being separated from his children, but working together for the kids is easier said than done.
In a different situation— some anonymous bar in some overpopulated city, perhaps— Erik would absolutely have been interested. He was slender and looked about Erik’s age, but his eyes took up the majority of his face and were almost alarmingly blue. His dark curls looked like they were made for a hand to fist in. His anger was nearly palpable, sparking off him in waves that Erik could physically feel. Under any other circumstance, he’d be attracted, would have immediately started things working to get the pretty little Englishman back to his place.
Not this circumstance.
“You will not,” the Brit snarled at Erik, “Not be taking custody of my children.”

He watched Leorio. Watched as he mumbled unintelligible words in his sleep. Wondered, very briefly, if this was something he could get used to seeing. If he could abandon everything he'd worked so hard for just so he would no longer cause Leorio to worry.
He wondered if he could abandon his revenge and the anger inside of him. He wondered if he could abandon his people, all for Leorio.
He moved his hand up to his own cheek.
He was crying.
He couldn't remember the last time he'd cried. It had been so long, and he'd nearly robbed himself of the ability to feel.
He hadn't felt anything in so long. And here was this man beside him, who felt far too strongly and far too much, making him feel something for a change.
It hurt. It hurt so bad.

It was easier and more efficient than a mass grave, after all, and there had been no one to tell them that the Kurta did not burn their dead.The Kurta desired to be returned to the earth, wrapped in cloth, not even a coffin to stand between their flesh and the forces that would break them back down into the elements they had formed from. It was an insult to burn them, but Kurapika had no one to blame but himself for that. He hadn’t been there. They couldn’t have known.
But Kurapika would do it properly now."
When the quest for all the eyes has finished, what is left? More vengeance, perhaps — or perhaps a little peace.

It’s an extremely childish response and Leorio really should be above it. But as soon as he says it, a strange look comes over Kurapika’s face. It’s the look before a person jumps into a cold lake on a winter’s day. Or the look before someone throws the first punch. It’s the look of setting aside all reservations. Of abandoning all better judgment. Of taking an enormous risk.
Kurapika reaches up and grabs Leorio’s shirt tight in his fists. For a moment, Leorio worries Kurapika is going to hit him, but all at once Kurapika yanks him down and kisses him.
