Summary
Really, no one should be knocking on their door. Being presumed dead really destroys your social life, and living on a patch of land just over the Canadian border with the closest neighbor five miles away means they don’t get friendly visits. Chiyoh has a key and just comes in whenever she wants, scaring Will with how quiet she is more than once. It could be anything between a bounty hunter or a blackmailer, both of which will probably end up in the freezer. Will hopes whoever they are, they’re underprepared; Hannibal’s stitches only just came out, and Will’s ribs still hurt when he bends down.
He makes sure the gun is hidden behind his back, if it really is a solicitor at nine o’clock at night. He makes himself look as annoyed as possible, Hannibal at his side and tensed up, when he opens the door.
The little girl covered in mud, slush, and holding a struggling lamb is the last thing he expects.

“I hope you don’t mind some additional company, Miss Bloom,” Hannibal says as he hangs his coat on the back of a chair. “Will, I’ve told you about Miss Alana Bloom, my TA. Miss Bloom, this is Will Graham, my significant other.”
Alana leans forward with an outstretched hand, beaming with recognition. “Hannibal’s mentioned you, Will! I’m so glad we can finally meet. Please, call me Alana.”
Will shakes Alana’s hand, answering with a less than polite but totally honest, “He has?” Flattering though the thought may be, it’s also out of character with Hannibal’s impersonal politeness.
“We got onto the subject of Florence, and how could I not mention meeting you?” Hannibal says charmingly.
“Hannibal said it’s where he became a man,” Alana grins, and her suggestiveness is not lost on Will.
“I guess that makes the two of us,” Will says, and deciding to indulge Alana elaborates, “I was just an innocent college student with absolutely no plans to be seduced by an exotic doctor in training.”
“It was a joint effort, my darling.”

Hannibal Lecter is the Devil, roaming Earth for eons after falling from Heaven, and he ropes Will into something that he can never escape. The two make a deal and form an unlikely partnership, one that will not end in the way that Will is expecting it to.
Eventually, Will won't want to escape. Eventually, that partnership will be the only thing keeping him alive.
