Summary
“We’re… expecting.”
He says it flatly. He can’t say I, for reasons Jamie understands perfectly. Even the sentence just as it is makes him visibly cringe. She tightens her grip on his hand; he returns the squeeze with an unreadable look, then drops his gaze back to his pasta. Silence settles over Hodgson’s dining room.
“Expecting wha—” Edward starts, again trading a baffled glance with John, but he’s cut off by a sharp, joyous screech as Georgie shoots to her feet.
“Are you serious?” she wails. “Congratulations! Oh my God!” She claps her hands together, once, twice. Henry looks up at her, pasta still in his mouth. At least the nausea has gone at this point, just as Dr Macdonald predicted.
Georgie barrels on. “I was going to comment on the oversized jumper—it really suits you, Henry—but John always says it’s rude to comment on people’s appearances, which I disagree with, because it’s obviously well meant—” She finally stops to inhale.
“Congratulations,” John echoes more quietly, inclining his head towards both of them.- Language:

Summary
He was stuck. Caught in the tent. In his body. In the taste of death on his tongue.
The Captain was there. Was he? He was sure he saw the Captain.
The Captain, whom he failed to save. Still he was there, he embraced him, forgave him.

Summary
Henry shifts on the couch, oversized clothes folding over him like a shroud. He moans softly in his sleep — and wakes under Frank’s stare. They stare at each other in the dark for several moments.
“What are you doing here?” Francis asks. He can’t see Henry’s expression, but he knows he’s been heard.
“Looking for my book,” Henry replies, his voice like metal dragged across glass.
“Are you?”
Francis looks down at the table where Graham Gore’s face had been on the screen, someone who cares about Henry. They are all so handsome, Francis had thought when he first met James’s friends. James was still the most handsome of all.
Next to the phone lies a tiny plastic bag with white powder, almost empty.***
After James’s death, Francis finds the last man he wants to see standing on his doorstep. Henry Le Vesconte has come to collect something.
