“Why did you call me Manon?” Lara asks in a tired voice.
“Because I want to offer you something you can’t resist.” Manon answered, her voice feels like it’s reaching right out the phone and speaking directly into Lara’s ear.
“Which is?” Lara asks, already regretting answering her phone.
“A second chance at our interview, A proper one, no secrets, no half truths, the story of a lifetime. Just like you always wanted.”
There was a moment of silence before the dial tone rang in Manon’s ear. Instead of anger though, laughter spills from her body as she patiently waits.
One… Two… Three…
Her phone rings, Lara’s contact illuminating the screen.
“Thought so.” Manon grinned as she answered the call.

“Do you think such a bad case of Hanahaki can be cured?” Yoonchae asks, looking up at the sky. Her chest hurts, her chest has always hurt, but it hurts so badly right now. She doesn’t think it's just because of the flowers growing inside of her. “People are often given months to live when diagnosed with cancer, but yet they prevail. Do you think I can prevail too?”
If Megan was looking at the sky, she'd turn her head to stare at Yoonchae. But she was already doing so in the first place, staring at Yoonchae. Perhaps she always had throughout the years they’ve known each other, and they were both too clueless to notice.
Yoonchae’s dying of her Hanahaki disease. Instead of finding a cure, she creates a bucket list.

Summary
“Do you want to head back to our apartment?” Lara asks, smoke leaving out her mouth as she does so, Yoonchae swears it wraps around her like the girl in front of her commanded it too.
She feels Megan’s arms tighten ever so slightly as the girl leans her head against the back of Yoonchae’s shoulder, if Yoonchae strains her head enough she can see that her eyes are closed, but she can also feel the vibrations emitting from Megan as she hums whatever song is currently playing at the party.
She should really go home, sleep off whatever high she has and get her scolding from Sophia done and over with. She should ignore the feeling of warmth that blooms in her chest when she feels Megan’s fingers moving absentmindedly up and down her body or when Lara smiles at her.
“Yeah.” She says instead, she’s always been one to make bad decisions when it involves Lara and Megan. One of the reasons why she had to fight tooth and nail to get Sophia’s permission to hang out with them. “Let’s go, this place is boring anyways.”

Yoonchae hits the enter button and watches as Google comes up with nothing. Great, wonderful, even Google is useless. She considers going onto reddit for answers and decides that she's not that desperate. Instead she slams her laptop shut and leaves their room, preparing herself for the oncoming headache.

“I'm not supposed to feel this way about you. I'm not supposed to have these thoughts, but I do. And I can't stop them.” Dani sobs, hiding her face in her hands. “I can't control my lust for you.”
“Do you really think it's lust?” Lara asked, voice gentle. More gentle than Dani ever deserved. “Would you call Manon and Sophia's love for each other lust? What about Megan and Yoonchae’s?”
“That’s different, they're different. They're wonderful. They aren't like me, I was born damned. And I don't want to taint you too.”
Dani can't come to terms with her feelings for Lara on account of how she was brought up. Luckily Lara is nothing but loving.

Then the gunfight doesn’t end in their favor, the shot rings her ears, it hits flesh. Flesh that isn’t hers but it belongs to someone she loves. There’s screams, multiple, her vision is filled with blood, and Sophia is reminded just how human her and her girls are.

Summary
If she stands at a distance, ‘Megan’ can pretend that Yoonchae is smaller than her. Even hold out her hand and close it, encapsulating Yoonchae’s entire being into her hand. It fills her with way more satisfaction than she would like to admit.
Despite the fact that her fist is closed so tightly that she's digging into her own skin, that pink light that can challenge the sun with how bright it is shines through 'Megan's fingers and lights up her eyes. It's so warm, so beautiful. And ‘Megan’ is such a glutinous creature that she can’t help but want to consume it.
“Megan?”
The creature blinks and is met with Yoonchae’s face instead of her intoxicating light. How the hell did she get in front of ‘Megan’ so quickly? Her desire quickly goes away with just one glance. “What are you doing?”
What is she doing? Why has she been so enamored by the girl that stood in front of her? Why did she want to grab her, hold her close, hold her tight, and never let go? Why did she want to kiss her so bad?
'Megan's eyes trail down from Yoonchae’s to her lips, her face flushes and ‘Megan’ turns away, as a last ditch effort to restrain herself from crashing their lips together.
“Nothing.” She answers.

“You forget, Avanzini.” Manon says with such a somber voice that Dani’s never heard before. “I was reaped too.”
Dani looks at her, actually looks at her, and no longer sees Meret Manon Sarpong Bannerman, the capital favorite and beauty of district one. She sees Manon, a scared child just like the rest of them that was forced to kill in a cruel game for crimes neither of them had committed.
It's time for the victory tour again, and victor Daniela Avanzini of district 9 is dreading it, not only because it means she has to be back in the capital and also celebrate another traumatized child's win. But also because it means she'll have to interact with Manon Bannerman, one of the many victors of district 1 and the sweetheart of the capital.

“I don't like crying.” Yoonchae said quietly, picking at her shaved ice. “Especially not in front of other people.”

“I have.”
‘Megan’ turned her head forwards to stare ahead instead of at Yoonchae.
“It's because of me, isn't it?” She asked, the guilt heavy in her tone.
“It is.” Yoonchae confirmed, directing her answer both to the corpse that sat next to her and the monster that took it over.

“How the hell did you nab a girl from Joseon?” Megan questioned, raising an eyebrow at the man in front of them.
The man put on a flashing smile, which might have worked for any other group of bounty hunters, not for Katseye though, Sophia's eyes narrowed as they waited for his explanation.
“I have my ways, ladies. Let's just say I like my exotic women, the harder it is for me to obtain them, the more I want them.” He clapped his hands and waited for laughter. None came though, only blank stares that hardly hid their irritation with him. The man cleared his throat before continuing. “Anyways return what's mine and I will pay you.”
Sophia looked over at her girls who all nodded before back at the man. “We got a deal. What's the target's name?”
The man flashed his teeth again, like doing it a second time could change their opinion of him, make him seem more like a charming guy trying to find his easily lost girl than a man preying on a confused and terrified woman. Men.

“The lamp?” Yoonchae asked, staring at it intensely. “What's wrong with the lamp, Manon?” Nothing seemed out of the ordinary about it. Sophia barked out a laugh at that and Yoonchae scowled at her. “What?”
“It’s a meme from Reddit.” Lara explained grabbing her phone to pull up what Manon was referencing, leading to some horror story of a man who realizes his entire life is just a dream in his comatose state when he's the only one to notice the lamp looking strange. “It's old, but it's popular, you know it, right Megan?”
Megan, if Yoonchae could even call her that, looked up from her phone and shook her head.
“Nope.” She replied, grinning when Dani made a comment about her being so chronically online. “You know all I do is play roblox with my Yoonchip.” She countered, sliding her hands around said girl, pulling her into a hug and smiling.
Yoonchae held back a flinch and made herself look at ‘Megan’. Perhaps, if she stared long enough while knowing something was wrong, she'd wake up from whatever nightmare this was and her Megan would return. Safe, sound, and not dead being used as a skinsuit.
