A moment later, there was a short rustling before it went quiet.
Hua Cheng's demeanor was more upsetting than the rustling leaves. The sound could have come from anything, but Hua Cheng had a very blank expression on his face. The oppressive weight that Xie Lian had so briefly felt began to creep over the forest floor. It rose up like water, wading up their knees, torsos, and up to their heads.
Xie Lian stepped toward Hua Cheng, reaching out a hand to touch his arm. For some reason, he felt like he had to stop him from going after that feeling, or maybe it was an urge to keep him nearby.
When Xie Lian’s fingers touched the skin of Hua Cheng's wrist, he turned to look down at him. His eyes most certainly were red.

Xie Lian is a prince of a city whose people are being tormented by an unknown, unseen beast. Seeking new lands to run to, Xie Lian begins a small village in the woods, hoping to prepare to move his people away from the dreaded forest outside of their walls. There, he meets Hua Cheng, who seems just a little off from human.

“Qinghua,” he said, voice strained.
Shang Qinghua glanced at him, and the heat inside of his stomach increased tenfold. He felt his breath coming quicker. It was getting harder to ignore. It was getting harder to keep still.
Mobei Jun stepped over to the side of the bed. He loomed over him, blank expression moulding into something angrier and angrier as he grew closer. “Qinghua,” he said again, voice a hiss. “Were you poisoned with an arousal pollen?”

Guan Shan bites down on his lip so hard that He Tian thinks it's going to start bleeding. Imagines licking into his mouth and tasting salt and iron, drinking Guan Shan in. He's so hard in his own trousers that it's starting to hurt, but he's desperate to please Guan Shan. To give him all the pleasure in the world until he's out of his mind with it. Until he can't fight it or divert it, can't think hard enough to convince himself he's not worth it. Until he has to just lay there and take it, body trembling and exhausted. Buzzing and sated.
"He Tian," he whispers almost urgently. "I'm not gonna—I can't do this. I'm not gonna last."

Summary
Even across the ballroom, He Tian recognizes the tension in Guan Shan's shoulders. The pain in the line of his jaw, the way his face is angled down, eyes locked on the marble floors and avoiding Father Liu's at all costs. A kicked dog.
It makes his blood boil.
At the same time, his eyes can't help but drift lower, to the slit in his skirts where they wrap and cross over. When Guan Shan takes a step, his trousers peek out and He Tian can't help but picture the bare skin of his legs, long and lean. The bites he left on his thighs, the bruising on his knees. Can't help but imagine wrapping them around his waist.
"He Tian," He Cheng snaps, and He Tian finally tears his eyes away to look at his brother. "I said stop. Staring."Series
