No one else could hold the threads of Lindon’s governance the way Elrond could. No one else could manage the endless petitions, coordinate the guard, balance the accounts, oversee the staff, soothe every minor crisis before it reached the throne.
No one else could be trusted, not really.
And yet, now, neither could Elrond.
Gil-Galad had stripped him of the office, because he had to. Because Elrond had jeopardized the realm, because he had lied and defied orders and made decisions that had nearly dragged Lindon into war.

“Elrond wears blue, Elros wears red,” replied Maglor. “Except when they’re being difficult.”
That answered exactly none of the questions Círdan was currently forming.

It had been so hard, in those early years, and every time he had dropped his sword and stumbled, he had imagined that elegant figure helping him to his feet and murmuring words of encouragement. The Li Xiangyi of his imagination had always known what to say.
It would be easier, really, if he could tell himself that he’d just been chasing a mirage all these years, that Li Xiangyi had never been that shining pillar of righteousness, that he’d schemed with the Jinyuan Alliance, murdered his sect brother, fallen into well-deserved ignominy and shame. Except that he’s been travelling with Li Lianhua for weeks now and none of that seems true.

Summary
Jin Guangyao, the god of wealth and gold has always been tormented by wishes, prayers, and people, trying to hunt him down- both the heavens and the earth, looking for something so fleeting. In an attempt to find solace, he stumbles upon Nie Mingjue’s kingdom of stone where he accidentally finds himself trapped in one of the domain’s caverns. Just his luck though, that Nie Mingjue has just come back from business to find this god in his territory. It’s odd, but eventually, these two learn to exist with one another, sharing their different ideals and slowly learning what it means to be fortunate.
