Keith looks up and sees Lance staring at him, head tilted at an angle. His eyes are just barely visible through the visor, but his mouth is twisted into a puzzled curve.
“Sorry,” Keith says, flushing. “Lost in thought.”
“You okay?” Lance asks, falling into step alongside him as they follow the others out of the ship.

“You really wanna kiss me, Kogane?” Lance asks, suddenly serious. His fingers twitch anxiously and his teeth gnaw at his bottom lip.
Keith looks at him through the screen, right into his blue-brown eyes. (He can never tell what color Lance’s eyes are--they always seem to be shifting and changing in the light, just like the inside of a kaleidoscope.) “Yeah,” He breathes. “Yeah. You just said you wanted to make me a mixtape in a declaration of your love to me. I want to kiss you so hard right now.”

Summary
Lance gave up the chance to make a difference by giving up the Red Lion. He gave up his chance to be a hero. What he wants now is just to go home. He'll protect Earth and his family from the Galra as best he can when he gets there. That's his top priority now.
And sure, he stole the opportunity to make this decision from Keith, and maybe that's not fair.
But whatever. If Keith was going to make the wrong choice, Lance wasn't going to give him one.

“Keith!”
He blinks, trying to make sense of the image on the tablet that Pidge is holding in front of his face. It takes a moment, but then, “holy shit.”
“That’s him, right? That’s gotta be?”
“It has to,” Keith agrees, “I thought he might’ve died by now."
“If there’s anyone to manage surviving alone in an infinite universe off of dumb luck for two entire years, it’s Lance,” Pidge replies, something soft in her grin.
They go with hope filling their chests, eyes bright and determination clear. Because he left; because he's been gone.
And when the lead is as dead as they've all been, Sol asks, “is it worth looking?”
Keith looks to him a moment, and shakes his head. Because Sol stays and Lance goes, and maybe…
Maybe Keith can live with that, now.
