Summary
She heard Frank’s sharp intake of breath. When he next spoke, she could hear the frown in his voice.
“Robby, I’m- please, I’m sorry, man.”
She didn't know what exactly Frank was begging for. She just knew she didn't like it when he sounded like this.
“Then do better.”
For a second, Heather thought she may have misheard. Robby wouldn’t- Robby would never speak to anyone like that. But then again, Frank was never just ‘anyone’ to him.
or: Frank Langdon's return post-rehab through the eyes of the other Pitt members

Summary
Robby pressed the swinging doors of the Pitt open and rejoined his team, one member left to gather his things in the locker room. He knew he wouldn’t be seeing Langdon again that day. He knew he wouldn’t be seeing him for a long time. He wondered, bleakly, if Langdon was desperate enough to expose what had just happened. Addiction did funny things.
His mind returned to the words exchanged, ‘I lost control but I’m better now.’
His own actions hadn’t been a loss of control. What he’d done was reckless, ruthless and risky but it was not a loss of control. It was a forfeiture of it. He couldn’t pretend Langdon hadn’t breached hospital policy. He could never put Langdon above the hospital, but he could put him above himself. If Langdon went down, he would go down with him.
Or the one where Robby needs Langdon to know he's got him.

Summary
In which Langdon is injured, and Robby is forced to reflect.
-Excerpt-
Doctor Michael Robinavitch was a teacher, a mentor, and an attending, but most of all, he was a coward.
He would never stare vulnerability in the eye, until it had broken him and beaten him blue. His cold brittle heart would never beat until it was shattered, sending shrapnel into his bones.
He could not dare to care, not after all this time. He couldn’t dare to open his heart after it had already been broken. It had only barely been patched together again.
