“So, how did you end up becoming a firefighter?” Agnes asked, leaning up against the side of the engine as she watched Buck restock after a call.
Buck could sense the implications of the question, she was asking how an omega became a firefighter, she just wasn’t allowed to outright ask.
Buck shrugged, “I was living in Peru, ended up moving here with some guys I met out there and decided to try out to become a firefighter.”
“So you just… became a firefighter?”
“Yeah, pretty much, passed with flying colours, top five in my class.” Of course Buck knew all about the stigmas surrounding omega firefighters, they were a rare breed. So the fact that Buck had not only qualified but qualified in the top five (beating multiple alphas) was practically unheard of.
Even without being able to smell the alpha he could tell that had riled her up, most alphas didn’t like the fact that he, an omega, was a better firefighter than them, and Agnes was no different.
“Wow, top five.” She got out through gritted teeth, “You must be quite something.”

Summary
“You’re not even paying attention right now,” he growls.
“Look, Eddie,” Evan tries, lifting his hands up in surrender. Eddie’s eyes trail from his eyes down to his lips, his chest, and then back up at him, and Evan doesn’t like the way it feels. Something about the entire moment feels uncomfortable to him.
Eddie sets the bowl on the counter and puts his hands on Evan’s ribs, pushing him back towards the fridge.
“Eddie, man, what’re you doing,” Evan stammers nervously.
OR: Two hours before a date night with Tommy, Eddie turns up at the loft. A fight ensues, and Evan is violently sexually assaulted, left for Tommy to find.
Together, they have to face the aftermath and healing process.

Summary
Buck moves in on a Saturday. It’s a small house, but that’s okay. With each successive move Buck had gotten rid of more and more belongings. He doesn’t have much left at this point.
Eddie helps him move boxes and furniture from storage to his truck and from his truck into his new house. With a lunch break, the entire process only takes three hours. It’s all a bit anticlimactic. Eddie offers to help him unpack, since they have so much time, but the idea settles too heavy in Buck’s stomach. Moving boxes is one thing. Moving in is something else entirely.
This is the first place that Buck has ever lived in that he picked out for himself. He’s feeling a little precious about that. He doesn’t want someone else to decide which drawer his utensils should be in. He’s had enough of other people telling him where to put things.

Summary
Buck finds himself broken up with a subsequently homeless. After taking up Chimneys couch for 2 weeks, Chim wants his living room back and Tommy comes to the rescue offering his guest room.
Buck feels like a burden a first but then slowly comes to realise there are some new feelings for his roommate bubbling inside of him that he wasn’t expecting.
Tommy, having been raised by an abusive homophobic father and an alcoholic mother, had spent his whole life lying about who he was and keeping his true self hidden.
Eventually, through a lot of therapy, he began to build the life he wanted. He had a job he loved, friends he’d (somewhat) open up to, and a home he owned and poured his own blood sweat and tears into making it into the sanctuary he’d craved as a child. The only thing missing was someone to share his life with.
And then a colleague of his old 118 friend Howie needed a place to stay..

Without waiting for a reaction or reply, the man bore down on the gas and peeled down the highway, leaving Buck stranded in the middle of nowhere somewhere along Interstate 10.
And as Buck watched the red brake lights of his Jeep disappear into the distance, clutching his prescription of blood thinners tightly to his chest... there was really only one thing left to do. Tilting his head back until he was staring at the stars, he took a deep breath and screamed into the night:
“Fuck!”
And much like every other one of his recent cries for help, it had gone unanswered.

Summary
Buck stares, unblinking, at the screen for a long time. For too long, maybe.
He has no idea how to even begin to make sense of what he’s looking at, even if he knew to expect this. It must be written all over his face in any case, as the technician takes in his expression in one breath and is adjusting the screen away from him in the next. It’s very slight, doesn’t really hinder much, but the simple gesture of kindness is enough to bring tears to his eyes.
