Summary
Lila checked on their stats again; they were just a few seconds away from winning the match, unless something crazy happened-
Everything seemed to skip for a second. Lila's body felt weird, something telling her that, in the space of a second or two, she must have shifted positions- maybe she'd fainted? She was still sitting, just… wrong.
The game cut off as well, screen lighting up with wifi errors, and Lila cursed, grabbing her headset and yanking it off her head, turning to glare at the emcee-
Bright white greeted her. She was- well, she was strapped into a chair, three sets of rope securing her firmly inside of it, and, through a nearby window, endless white shined out at her, barely any gaps marring it.
“No fucking way,” She mumbled.

Summary
Katie had been described as a lot of things in her life. Brave was not one of them, or, at least, it hadn’t been until a princess came crashing into her life, gown trailing in the dirt but eyes alight with a sort of fire that made it hard to take anything she said as anything but the plainest truth, made it hard to brush her off when she leaned in close and called Katie brave.
Her knight, Apo, was more reserved, but, between all the exhaustion and protectiveness, she’d called her Katie the Brave, said that she was courageous enough to be a knight.
Cherri had said that she was braver than Apo, which she didn’t really believe, because the more she got to know the other knight, the more inadequate she felt in comparison, but someone of Apo’s caliber coming to mind at the thought of Katie- well, maybe, in some, small way, they couldn’t both be wrong about her.
And, maybe, on some level, when they looked at her like that, she felt something settling in her, saying that she had something to be brave for. She had the kingdom, of course, and she still cared about it so much, but in that moment, she had someone to fight for, someone who could call her their knight.

Summary
On the third day after her father’s burial, Cherri was crowned queen.
There was no time for a proper coronation, and though it was offered that one be held, well-meaning advisors and scribes at the ready, she shook her head, head held high. “This is a time of war. When the enemy no longer attacks our land, it will be a time of celebration, but, for the remainder of this war, I will be in grieving for what they have and are taking from us. There is no space- nor resources- for celebration. Send out missives to inform everyone of these happenings.”
For that moment, when Apo looked at her, there was no longer the princess she’d known at the palace, but instead the queen she’d now been forced to become, holding herself with the same rigidity of steel burned in the hottest of forges.

Summary
Marmalade was everything Avid wanted to be. Really- she was a mirror into a world where he was better; smarter, more likable, less selfish, prettier.
She was the one who'd been able to create her own design for a machine, even if she'd gotten it wrong, and he'd only come along afterwards to change it into something else. She was the one everyone liked, the one people actively requested to talk to and make trade deals with.

Summary
On days like these, he could just stab, slash, hack at the dummy, diamond piercing easily through the wood, paying no heed to the parts of it that fell off or fell apart, letting everything fade to background sound except for sword on dummy.
That was, everything was meant to fade to background noise, but he hadn’t exactly anticipated someone else speaking.
“You know, if you keep destroying them like that, somebody’s going to start thinking you have a problem.”

The Construction of the Eighth Wall: Layered Realities in MCYT Storytelling by iamsolarflare

Summary
An academic essay on the concept of layered "fourth walls" as a part of the nature of MCYT, primarily focusing on three case studies of interesting interactions with this metanarrative aspect of the medium -- the Librarian's From The Fog series, Kenadian's Wifies Debunk, and Legundo's 100 Days Multiverse.
Originally written as part of the MCYT Meta Zine -- I highly recommend checking out the zine in its original form as well, as it comes with some really stunning illustrations!

"You're not doing this to make me look like an idiot, are you?"
"You of all people should know that this show means more to me than any silly prank," Hermie answers, almost sounding offended. He probably deserves that. "And I wouldn't - I wouldn't do that to you."

Summary
Henry waits for the metaphorical safeword, the refusal.
Glenn’s dark eyes flicker across his face, glancing down at his lips and then falling to the lighter in his hand... Then he draws back, only slightly, and brings the joint to his lips. He lets out a breath.
“...Don’t make me stay sober for this.” He murmurs, an obvious attempt at a joke that falls flat before it escapes his lips completely.
