Summary
Dick looked at his younger self; the way his brow twisted up in so much anger and his was chest heaving with pure vitriol. Dick remembered what fury like that felt like. He remembered the way it burnt in his throat. He used to spew that poison at Bruce all the time, hell even the Titans had gotten the bad end of his temper more than once. And yet, Dick couldn't place the last time he had been mad like that. Nowadays, all his anger died into withering flames of resignation and compromise more often than not.
But he could feel that rage bubbling up now, watching his teenage self tear his family apart. He was ruining it. Tim and Stephanie were huddled together nervously, Damian's eyes were wide, and Bruce's fists were clenched tightly. Why was he ruining it?
In that moment, Dick had never hated himself more.

But when little fragments slip out, small slices of Dick’s broken heart, his brothers realize that sometimes, people just shatter and the pieces just can't all be picked back up.

It could have been ten times worse, so he ignored it for as long as he could. And then he couldn't anymore. Everything was too much and, oh, he really wanted to eat Wally.
Which was not normal, even for him.

Everyone knew there was a traitor amongst them, even before Barbara had called in with the news. Statistically one of their own had to be infected, Bruce had tried to weed them out through a gauntlet of contingencies. Sunlight, holy water, a cross, and a million other supernatural alignments that he never thought he’d have to use in real life. They had all passed though, without a trace of discomfort, without a break in their facade. Even Cassandra had concluded that no one was lying.
But as time waned and more and more heroes fell Bruce couldn’t help the shiver of uncertainty that ran up his back every time he took in the group.
*Inspired by DC Vs. Vampires #6, but also a fix-it because who in their right mind green light DC Vs. Vampires?

There was only one thing Scarecrow wanted to inflict. Fear.
In his head, Dick was grateful he was the one in the hot seat. He always had a harder time watching his loved ones be in pain than taking the pain himself. That face was one of the leading reasons behind almost everything he does. Furthermore, he and Bruce have been testing his level of resistance to Scarecrow's fear gas, and compared to the others- even Bruce- he was the best option for this. Right?

OR: Scarecrow makes a fear toxin specifically for Nightwing, who seems to be immune to his normal batch. And maybe Dick could handle a newer version of the gas... if there wasn't also a device attached to his head that analyzed his thoughts to make him face his greatest fears...
What's worse is that his family, who have basically shut him out since his return from Spyral- from the dead- is there to witness his fall.

It wasn’t stunned speechless, nor was it his brain catching up to what it heard. It felt more like a snapshot, a moment of stillness to make the rush after all the more disorienting.
Slade gestured with cuffed hands, palms facing upward. “It’s not about what I want,” he started, “it’s what you need. I know you have questions, and that I have the answers.” He laced his fingers together and placed his chin atop them. “But that’s… formulaic, too conventional. Why not make it interesting?”

There's unrest in the underground and Slade seems to be a part of the cause. He agrees to cooperate with the League on a condition: Only Nightwing can interrogate him.
For every question Nightwing asks, he has to answer a question from Slade as well. Confidential information was off the table, that was made clear. So what seems to be Slade's end goal here, if the deal just sounded too good to be true?
