Summary
Iruka Umino was having a terrible day.
His day didn't start this bad. He would describe it as normal, even. Nothing at all in the many waking hours Iruka had spent up until now had given him any kind of indication of what was to come.
Which was, as it turns out, that while he was walking home through a narrow path in the trees, someone was going to throw a knife at him.
When Iruka managed to open his eyes, he froze.
There was a man pinning Iruka to the tree by his forearm. He had an elaborately painted dog mask, a single blood-red eye, and a second knife poised against Iruka's neck.
Iruka's life was normal. Routine. Boring, even. And he was okay with it. He was satisfied, he really was. All of these feelings of loneliness, or like he didn't belong were just normal graduation anxiety, he's sure.
But then a stranger crashed onto the scene, bringing powerful, long-lost knowledge and a mystery that's centuries old. And suddenly, Iruka finds himself diving headfirst into a world he had only known legends about...with a man unlike anyone he's ever met.

Summary
The sight of it made the hairs on the back of Kakashi's neck stand up. It looked so human—but Kakashi knew it wasn't. For a moment, Kakashi had thought this must be a ninja from one of the shark-featured clans from Kirigakure. It would have been easy to explain.
But Kakashi knew this was something different. Something he'd never seen before.
When Kakashi is badly injured on a solo infiltration mission to Kirigakure, he figures he's as good as dead.
He never expected something in the ocean would prove to him he's worth saving.

Summary
Kakashi Hatake was used to missions where everything was simple: a target, an order, an outcome. The shinobi Academy did not belong on that list. Iruka Umino was used to carrying the fragile, noisy world of children on his own shoulders and to not expecting help. A forced partnership. Reports, students’ tears, and far too much time spent side by side. Trust forms before either of them realizes it, and closeness becomes a threat that cannot be ignored. As long as the lights in the Academy stay on, each of them will have to decide where his line is drawn.

Summary
Kakashi receives an order to return to ANBU on a familiar S-rank assignment: serving as a guard for a jinchuuriki. One he had thought to be kept somewhere far from the village, but had instead been hidden on the Hokage’s estate the entire time since the Kyuubi attack.
All Iruka wants is to continue burying himself in his fuuinjutsu research in peace, but his odds are looking slim after a new guard takes a little too much interest in him.
