Wei Wuxian hadn’t been avoiding Lan Wangji for years, but he hadn’t been not-avoiding Lan Wangji either. There was something awful and awkward about seeing your intended spouse after turning them down that Wei Wuxian just didn’t want to deal with. It helped that he went away for university, and that Lan Wangji went away for university, and they happened to both go to different countries. Wei Wuxian liked to think they both wanted to get as far away from the situation as possible.

So why, then, does Wei Wuxian’s heart skip a beat every time he sees Lan Wangji? And why is adult Lan Wangji so hot? It’s not fair that they could be married and instead Wei Wuxian is awkwardly pining for his former betrothed, a boy he once publicly broke it off with without regret.

Summary
Lan Wangji had too much power over Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian already couldn’t think when he was around Lan Wangji; if he ended up catching stupid feelings for the stupid alpha — wanting to date him and kiss him and make a nest for him — it was over. Wei Wuxian’s life would absolutely be over. Because he would do something stupid, like, forget to take his birth control, or make a down payment on a house with a cute little backyard, or buy a fucking eco-friendly hybrid SUV with enough room for kids and a pet.
Or Wei Wuxian baby traps himself into a relationship he'd wanted for years with an incredibly reliable and sexy alpha. The horror.
