Summary
Just west of the town Porthgwarra, Cornwall, Robert Singer’s farm lies, a mess of ravaged land gaping out onto a fretting sea. Robert's orphaned godson, Dean Winchester, is named sole beneficiary of the farm - and though he hasn't seen his godfather in fifteen years, he travels across the Atlantic with his brother and half brother to care for Singer in his old age and tend to the farm. All of them hope to leave behind the squalor and famine of their old life.
What Dean meets is the bird-infested home of a widowed eccentric, and a new shepherd whom he can neither stand nor see any use for - stoic, rude and conceited, Dean plans to fire the mysterious and wandering Mr Novak the moment he comes into legal possession of the farm. But upon the shepherd's offer to teach him the trade, in anticipation of Dean replacing the man himself, Dean finds in the wild and roaming man a steadiness and certainty his own life has never yet contained. And one day Dean will have to ask, not tell, the shepherd to stay.

“I ain’t got a special someone right now,” Dean assures her kindly, leaning back in his chair, tapping the table that separates him from Doris and her husband, “and I don’t mind working.”
“Well, of course you do!” Doris exclaims.
“I work most holidays, I really don’t mind –”
“No, you’ve got a special someone,” Doris corrects, eyeing him critically, smirking in a way that crinkles all of her many wrinkles, “a woman like me can tell.”

Slowly, Mystery Man raises his head. And when his eyes meet Dean’s again, they are so full that Dean is nearly leveled by it. Just. There’s love there, affection, fondness, all in that haunted cornflower blue. They’re greedy, too, like they’re consuming every detail. Dean forgets to breathe. “You sure this guy ain’t dead?” he manages. “Cause you’re looking at me like the last time you saw his mug was ten years ago.”
Mystery Man inhales sharply but doesn’t so much as blink. “He’s very much alive. He made pancakes this morning.” No further elaboration.
“Right…” Dean says a little awkwardly. “Well, since this is happening, apparently, what’s your name?”
Now, Mystery Man hesitates, frowns. Finally, he says, “My name is Cas.”
or the one where dean is at a bar in 2005 and he gets a visit from a stranger who feels familiar but he cant figure out why

And Dean’s music, in its purest, rawest form, was made for cassettes and vinyl, and unless Cas intended to sit next to the record player in Dean’s room or lounge on the front seat of the Impala for hours on end, he needed a Walkman.

“Yes.” Jack is nodding, smiling, all gap-toothed and kindergarten positivity.
“And the only parts of us the Empty would see are whatever dead leaves the angels and demons left in our gutters?” Dean raises his eyebrows.
“Exactly.”
He lets out a low whistle. There’s a living warmth finally coming back into his complexion. Not done yet, Winchester, still one more rescue mission. “It’s gotta be me. I’m going.”

Summary
After getting the hell away from Raphael, Dean is soaked from the rain and wants to dry off. Dragging Cas along with him, he can't help but notice the guy keeps staring. Well, things didn't work out with Chasity back at the bar so Dean might as well take a shot at it. Only he didn't figure on the angel to be so intense and possessive. He might have underestimated the angel, not that he's complaining or anything, mostly because he's too busy making other sounds to bother.

When an accidental encounter puts an as-of-yet-unknown monster in the passenger seat of his car, Dean decides to ice him, taking his dad's old adage to heart: a monster is always a monster. Unfortunately, Dean can’t seem to figure out what kind of monster "Castiel" is and he certainly can’t shake him.

“So you think I should do it, once I figure out a way to keep the souls contained?” Cas tilted his head. Dean paused. There was a battle raging loudly just behind his forest eyes. But the angel waited for the hunter’s verdict. He always valued the Winchester’s opinion, even if it was against his own understanding. Sometimes especially if it was.
Castiel had witnessed many things throughout his life, but he had learned from his short time on Earth that there is a massive difference between watching and doing. He had watched humans learn of fire, watched them debate politics, watched them wage war, watched them in death. But he had never truly understood the reasoning behind all of their triumphs and tragedies. But Dean would, because, to Castiel at least, Dean is the very definition of humanity and all it encompasses. The joys, the pains, the heartache, the rewards. He taught an angel how to see the beauty in the simple things, and he taught an angel why falling can sometimes still feel like flying.
Dean Winchester taught Castiel how to love, just because that is who Dean is.
