he doesn’t know how to say thank you in a way that sounds genuine. because this - this isn’t karasuma’s job. his job is to make sure they don’t get killed trying to assassinate kuro-sensei, not give junior high kids haircuts in derelict staffrooms, not treat them with the same love and attention as a son. and there’s now hair all over his suit, and his floor, but he doesn’t seem to care as he claps nagisa on the shoulder.

Summary
A soft blue invoked a sheer blanket of rolling mist pooling around the bottom of the hill like a moat. Students didn't arrive when the sky was still shaking off the tail of darkness. Yet here Karma was, face unusually pale, even if he missed breakfast, wide crimson eyes shimmering with an emotion entirely unfamiliar to his self assured attitude. Clutched in the white flesh of his hand was a phone, its screen cracked and sawing against the calloused palms of the student. Matching red welled in the creases of his hand, chest trembling gently.
Within a second Karasuma was on alert, pushing Karma behind his back and patrolling the desolate hallway with paranoid eyes.
"It's not- Shiota!" came the stuttering breath of Karma, arm outstretched with the phone proffered to his sensei. "The phone- you need to see this."
"Whose Shiota?"
"Nagisa Shiota, he was a student here, but a while ago he vanished. At the time I thought that he transferred out. But. The phone."
Glancing down, it was on a video, paused halfway through, the image of a broken body on the floor jarring enough that Karasuma ushered Karma into the staff room. As they sat down, side by side, he rewinded it and pressed play.
