Summary
The last time Eddie looked at a pregnancy test, he’d been sitting on the floor of Shannon’s childhood bedroom as she held it out to him with trembling hands. Nothing had been the same after that. And even though Chris is the best thing that’s ever happened to him, Shannon going from his best friend to his wife had made everything worse.
He doesn’t think the same thing would happen with Buck.
Not that Buck wants to be his wife, obviously. They’ll stay friends. And that’s… well, it’s not fine, but maybe he can find a way to live with it.
The more pressing question is how Buck will react if this test is somehow, impossibly, positive.Eddie and Buck have sex in Nashville. Revelations ensue.

“Sorry just paying for…”
“Table 12! I remember,” she injects brightly whilst ringing him up.
Eddie only winces slightly at the final count of the bill as he reaches into his wallet for his card.
“You have a gorgeous family.”
Eddie feels his face split into a wide grin. “Thank you,”
“How long have you and your husband been together?”
The words rattle around in Eddie’s head for a moment as he stammers like a fool, mid-swipe of his card. “I—Uh, seven…seven years.”
The waitress smiles brightly. “That’s so sweet, have a great rest of your day, sir.”
“Uh, yeah. Thanks.” Eddie places a fiver in the tip jar and spins right on his heels, leaving the cafe in a rush.
Who did she—did she mean? Buck?
OR
Eddie finds out how many times people have thought he and Buck were together and promptly spirals, realising that he wants to make it a reality.

“We did switch bodies,” Buck answers.
“Well, yeah, but would you believe if he told you he and Hen switched bodies?”
Buck wrestles with the air in his throat for a few seconds. “Fine, maybe I could’ve—it’s just because you won’t stop flirting with him.”
Ravi swipes at some of the sweat on his brow. “Yeah, and if you haven’t noticed, he’s into it. I’m taking the initiative you have refused to for, like, eight years.”

Summary
Eddie’s got a half-full grocery bag in his hand and a panicked look in his eye.
“H-How was the store?” Buck asks, like a totally normal, not prying guy.
Eddie looks at him for a long second before succinctly saying, “Pregnant.”
Buck blinks. Once. Twice. “What?”
“What?” Eddie repeats back. Which is crazy. Because Eddie is the one saying and doing crazy shit. Buck has done nothing that needs questioning.
“W-What did you say?” Buck expands, leaning forward in his chair.
The reusable shopping bag is placed onto the dining table where the beautiful breakfast spread had once been, and then Eddie lifts the bottom of it, letting the contents spill out over the table. The contents are several little sandwich bags with eight completed pregnancy tests inside them.

Summary
“I had a nightmare,” Buck admits, shrugging like it’s nothing. “It’s fine. I’m used to it.”
Eddie’s jaw tightens before he asks: “Why didn't you wake me?”
Buck clings to his coffee and shakes his head immediately. “No. You were exhausted. We'd had that shift with back-to-back calls.”
“And?” Eddie raises an eyebrow and sets his mug down. “So what?”
Buck blinks at him. “So… you needed sleep.”
Eddie leans forward, forearms on his knees, looking at him like he’s trying to make sure Buck really hears him. “If you have a nightmare, I want you to wake me up. Okay?”
Buck huffs a soft laugh. “Eddie, it’s not a big-”
“It is to me.” Eddie reaches out, curls his fingers around Buck’s hand and strokes over the back of it. “You don’t have to handle that alone. I want to be there, that’s kind of the whole point.”Buck has learned early to deal with nightmares by himself. Now that he's in a relationship with Eddie he sleeps next to someone who claims to want to be woken up for it. Buck is torn between his habits and hesitant trust.

Summary
“Eddie, I am definitely not going to date anyone else now,” Buck said, straightening up and frowning.
Eddie could feel himself flush, hating once again that his cheeks always showed his feelings. “I mean, you can,” he stuttered. “This doesn’t change anything—”
“Why do you always say that?” Buck snapped, pulling back. Another tear crested his waterline on the other side and he sniffled and swiped at it furiously with one hand. “That—that nothing will change. I tell you something life-changing and you assure me nothing will change,” Buck said, looking devastated. “I want things to change, Eddie. I want you to want things to change. I want you to want things, period.”

Summary
A continuation of the story that picks up right after the end of You'd Keep My Head From Going Under.
Buck presses close, leaning into the contact even as he shuts his eyes, bracing to say what he needs to say next. “I want to believe you, but I can’t. And I hate that.” He chokes on a sob at the back of his throat, refusing to allow it free.
“You don’t owe me anything, Evan,” Eddie reminds him, voice breaking. “It’s up to me to prove to you that I’m worth believing; that I’m worth forgiving. I understand that. I accept that.”
The sub nods, unable to form words. The tears he was fighting a valiant effort against break loose with an anguished sound that rips straight into Eddie’s heart. “Oh cariño, mi amor, come here.”

Summary
Eddie shoves a legal pad and a pen against Buck’s chest. He sits next to Buck, so close their thighs touch.
“Write your contract,” Eddie says.
“Our contract.”
“Such a romantic.”
This isn’t romance, though. But Buck doesn’t want to remind Eddie of that, because he might take the legal pad—or, more importantly, the promise of Buck getting to touch his body—away. So Buck scrawls Buck and Eddie’s Friendship Sex Contract.
Or: Eddie and Buck strike up a friends with benefits arrangement. Every good understanding needs a contract. And a detailed list of likes and dislikes, while they’re at it.

"You can't keep doing it, Eddie." Buck tells him as he pins Eddie in place with his wide-eyed stare. "I can't keep standing by while you run into situations where there's a maniac with a gun!"
"Jesus," Eddie breathes out and sinks back into his chair, but before he can say anything else, it's like the hose has been turned on full, because Buck is up and away.
"Like, I never understood Bobby being scared about me and the sniper, or… well… I did, but my need to protect everyone outweighed everything else, including Bobby's logic and fear." Buck paces the space around the kitchen table and Eddie can see the way his hands tremble.

“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you,” Eddie says.
“Oh,” Buck says, surprised. “There is?”

“I’m gay.”

Summary
Valentine’s Day was a terrible time to fall in love with your best friend.
Eddie decided this at precisely 2:13 a.m., staring at his ceiling while the city outside hummed like it didn’t care about personal crises. Which, to be fair, it didn’t. The ceiling fan ticked in a steady rhythm that sounded suspiciously like idiot, idiot, idiot, and Eddie considered getting up just to argue with it.
Because here was the problem: Eddie Diaz—grown man, veteran, paramedic, father, person who had once jumped out of a moving helicopter without hesitation—had developed feelings.

Summary
Christopher’s smiling ear to ear before Eddie even reaches him. His face blooms into joyful laughter as Eddie dips down to hug him tight and then picks him up to spin them both around. Eddie’s smiling bright and big in a way Buck’s never seen before. The love between them is palpable. It’s beautiful.
It’s like nothing Buck has ever experienced with his own parents.
The sudden tightness in his throat and dampness of his eyes surprises him. Though perhaps it shouldn’t. He’s cried at enough soldier-parent, kid reunion videos before. He just wasn’t— This was just doing his work friend a favor. Just taking Eddie to pick up his kid because his truck was stuck. He wasn’t expecting this. He literally saved a few people’s lives today, but for a brief moment, this feels like the most important thing he’s done in the last twenty-four hours.

“Think we might be lost, Buck,” Eddie tosses out when they’ve been hiking for almost two hours.
“We're not lost,” Buck tosses back with more confidence than he feels.
They might be lost.
Not Maddie will have to call search and rescue lost, thankfully, more like chose the wrong fork in the trail at some point behind them lost. Which is like… barely lost.
They can’t be lost. When Buck dragged Eddie up to Yosemite for a weekend away, it was supposed to be relaxing. A way for Eddie to take his mind off the many stressors in his life right now, the fact that Chris still hasn’t asked to come home chief among them. And this was supposed to be a lovely hike to an apparently very picturesque waterfall that they were going to bask in the majesty of while they ate the apple, swiss, and turkey sandwiches tucked gently in the top of Buck’s backpack.

“Funny, I was about to ask you that, since you’re the one that showed up my door unexpectedly,” Buck answers, like maybe he can still play this whole thing off. It earns him one of Eddie’s champion side-eyes.
