Summary
“I had a nightmare,” Buck admits, shrugging like it’s nothing. “It’s fine. I’m used to it.”
Eddie’s jaw tightens before he asks: “Why didn't you wake me?”
Buck clings to his coffee and shakes his head immediately. “No. You were exhausted. We'd had that shift with back-to-back calls.”
“And?” Eddie raises an eyebrow and sets his mug down. “So what?”
Buck blinks at him. “So… you needed sleep.”
Eddie leans forward, forearms on his knees, looking at him like he’s trying to make sure Buck really hears him. “If you have a nightmare, I want you to wake me up. Okay?”
Buck huffs a soft laugh. “Eddie, it’s not a big-”
“It is to me.” Eddie reaches out, curls his fingers around Buck’s hand and strokes over the back of it. “You don’t have to handle that alone. I want to be there, that’s kind of the whole point.”Buck has learned early to deal with nightmares by himself. Now that he's in a relationship with Eddie he sleeps next to someone who claims to want to be woken up for it. Buck is torn between his habits and hesitant trust.

Summary
Eddie pulled back just a little, resting his forehead against Steve’s collarbone. “Hey,” he said gently, brushing his thumb along Steve’s ribs. “You okay, big boy?” Steve gave a small nod, lips pressed together like he was trying to will himself back into the moment.
But Eddie felt the tension, that little tremble. A second nod. Then, barely noticeable, Steve shook his head.Eddie moved slowly, shifting to the side without breaking contact completely, lying beside Steve. He kept a hand on Steve’s stomach, hoping to ground him, softening his voice. “Talk to me, sweetheart. What’s going on?”
Steve and Eddie have been together for a little while and are making out in Eddie's trailer. Things are heating up but that stops abruptly.
One moment Steve is wrapped up in Eddie, kissing him like it’s easy, natural. The next, something shifts. His body goes still, his breath stutters, and everything feels too much.
At first he doesn’t know how to explain it, but Eddie isn’t rushing him. He’s just there, trying to help Steve through it. -
