There were lots of weird things about humans that the bots were struggling to wrap their heads around. There was the lack of an exoskeleton, the small size relative to their massive intelligence, and the fact that they leaked from their nasal cavities when they were ill.
But half the human population bleeding once a month, accompanied by ridiculously excruciating pain, takes the cake.

Roman blinked at Janus. Janus raised a brow. A minute went by.
“Well, this was a lovely conversation,” Janus said, moving to close the door. Roman lurched forward.
“Wait!” Roman cried, catching the door before it was shut, “I-uh. I came to ask for a favor, I think.”
Janus regarded him like he was an errant piece of lint. But he hadn’t closed the door on Roman again so Roman continued, “I need-”
“My, slow down there. Who ever said I was willing to grant a free favor?”
Right. That made sense. Which was saying something because not much was making sense to Roman at the moment. “Uh. What do you want in return?” he asked.
Janus shrugged a single shoulder and angled his face up at Roman, “I’d have to hear what you want first.”
Janus was being frustrating on purpose, Roman knew that. Normally Roman would take the bait.
Today, though, Roman just looked Janus in the eyes. Janus’s eyebrow twitched, though the rest of his expression remained neutral. Roman took a breath.
“I need you to tell me if I’m lying to myself.”
