But instead of a park ranger or campers or annoying tourists, Rikus aquamarine eyes were greeted with a different sight: a boy, who looked to be short and around his age, doing stretches on a yoga mat with his phone playing music propped up on a backpack.

Every Christmas season, a normal, run-of-the-mill poetry club at Destiny Islands State University hosts a haiku contest to support local food shelves. After years of training, Sora has FINALLY made it to the finals, and he intends to absolutely destroy the sitting champion. Too bad said champion plays dirty.

Riku gave a soft little hum in agreement. He was watching the window, but the corners of his mouth twitched—like he knew Sora was watching him.
It was getting harder to pretend he wasn’t.They’d been dancing around this for months. No declarations, no kisses, just… this slow, magnetic pull. Little moments. Brushed fingers. Shared silences. The first time Riku had reached for his hand during a horror movie, Sora had pretended it was because Riku was scared. But neither of them let go.
Tonight, they were alone. Kairi was out of town. The storm had given them a perfect excuse not to go anywhere. And now the soft yellow lighting of the apartment bathed everything in warmth, like it was daring them to finally acknowledge it.
