Summary
There are times when — after not having had company for too long, Shanks realizes how in spite of his general charm and simply wonderful crew, he does require a certain level of… more intimate human connection. In his earlier years, before he lost his arm, before he even earned his title as an emperor — this time of necessary human interaction was easily dealt with by a visit to either a bar, or later, Mihawk. Afterward, it is much harder for him to deal with such an issue. Has this led Shanks to making what others may call, “stupid decisions” ? Maybe so.
This is all to say that Shanks had meant to only have a one night stand with Trafalgar Law - and he is very much aware that this entanglement should not have lasted as long as it has (and continues to last)

It's kind of annoying how much he would do for him.
"I can meet them but just so we're clear, you're never meeting my parents, not if I can help it," he warns Hitoshi because he doesn't want them to know this about him.
He never bothered to come out to them, he doesn't talk to them about personal stuff and he sure as fuck is not about to introduce Hitoshi to them.
They don't get to know that about him and if it goes according to his wishes, then they never will.
