Summary
Sometimes Steve misses his hair. It had always felt like armor. If he had good hair to compliment his good looks, he was unstoppable.
Then he impulsively shaved it off during a particularly bad mental breakdown several months ago.
The breakdowns had started near the beginning of the year, his nightmares of the Upside Down returning full force after his bed once again cradled only him. Nightmares that kept him from sleeping, leaving him exhausted and irritated. He began speaking only when required and going almost nowhere besides work and sometimes the store when he absolutely had to. Robin called him agoraphobic, but Steve knew it wasn’t quite that.
And it had everything to do with Theodore fucking Munson.
Or: A year ago, Steve and Eddie were happily in love. A year ago, they had just said "I love you." A year ago, Eddie cheated and they broke up. A year ago, Eddie moved away and Steve tried to rebuild his life. In the year following, Steve does everything he can to forget Eddie, until Eddie comes back to Hawkins and everything shatters.
