Summary
Grounded with a ringing head, and drawn, painful wheezing from struggling lungs, Seol's scrambling hands instinctively clutch onto the body who pinned her there. One hand finds the spike of the heavy shoulder guard, the other finding the torn hem of the blonde's cropped shirt. If it wasn't for her own struggling gasps and gurgles, Seol would've missed the low, breathy chuckle that tingled against her ear.
"No.." Her gritted voice finally speaks, "I think I terrify you."

“At last, it talks,” Orin hums, returning her hand to Lae’zel’s cheek. “It criticizes. Ungrateful. I thought you’d like my little play, bone-killer bait. Don’t you want to pretend that your people search for you?”
Lae’zel hardens back to a statue, her mouth returning to the grim line it’s been since her capture. Orin’s giggle of delight ricochets around the room, seeming to split and multiply with each echo. It’s been too long since she had a toy to break.

“Just when I thought I’d seen the depravity of your kind at its fullest. Stealing a poor dog’s ball?” Shadowheart makes a grab for the ball; Lae’zel tosses it to her other hand, grimacing at the sheen of drool it leaves behind. “For what purpose? Just to ruin the day of a being actually capable of feeling joy?”
“By the hells, Shadowheart, she’s taking the thing for a bloody walk,” Wyll says from his tent.
“A walk,” Shadowheart repeats, crossing her arms. “Why?”
“I assume the animals of this world require some amount of exercise if they’re not to collapse under the weight of their own atrophying muscles,” Lae’zel says. “But you wouldn’t know, would you? Do the disciples of Shar pre-kill their pets so they can skip right to the loss?”
