Life is an intricate mess of unimportant and consequential things. It's the natural flow of an ecosystem; it's the hope it'll persevere against all odds, that one day you'll do enough. It's the train in your dreams that has left the station, yet you still run, chasing doors you cannot see and leaving behind the ones you crossed.
Sometimes, life was in the decisions you couldn't possibly make, words you couldn't say, was in knowing there's no fairness, and no way but forward.

Her thighs tasted like thunder, smoke and absinthe. One day, he thought they could just run away, that things would be fine. Those were long passed as he truly joined her. For it would be blood one day, blood shed in Elphaba's name, her honour, and the empty grave in a country they couldn’t visit, wouldn’t even mention as Galinda clung on to a hope he wished he shared, as she faded away before her faith did.
Kissing away the remnants of her pain until only Galinda was left, her taste, sweet. Still theirs, even now.
“I love you.”
Her answer wasn’t much more than a broken moan.

Evie knew how much Mal missed the isle, the screams singing in the air, poisons, pain. It showed in her glowing wild eyes, sharp teeth and even more biting insults. How she would do so much, anything, if just to feel alive for a moment. A caged declawed animal, too feral to be tamed as such.
While she noticed it, Evie couldn't commiserate, no sympathy would solve any of their issues, if anything it would make them worse. Adapting to this mask of Auradon was easy for her, like a snake dotting a new skin, just one more mask, not quite important enough to bother her, firmly set in place. A polite perfect princess, not a sorceress.
She could, however, help Mal feel something.
It was the proper thing to do, after all, to help a "friend".

Warm lips brushed her ear as she whispered, "Because I wanted to call you every time I tried." She pulled away, though her perfume lingered.
Melissa Hastings deserved better than to be left waiting.

Once they become friends enough that they have movie nights, Janis sees Gretchen in sleeping shorts for the first time. If not for the fucking glitter she would have felt embarrassed to have looked in that direction, but it's there, clear as day in a familiar neon green glow-in-the-dark underpaint. It reminded her of many sculptures Karen did, the vases, candles, and epoxy. Always covered in the same paint and excessive glitter.
Her jaw could hit the floor at that moment.
Because that was undeniably Karen’s hand, painted onto Gretchen’s ass.

Much less if they were close enough to see Tina staring at her lips.
