Summary
When Sonic is sold to the Doom Empire, he finally accepts the reality that he will never regain what he lost years ago. And then he saves the life of the crown prince and discovers that there's more to him than meets the eye. Perhaps he's not so different from the blue hedgehog after all, but Sonic's not counting on it. Especially when his inner demons seem insurmountable, where even a simple song can be painful to sing.
Driven by a promise made long ago and despite his own heartaches, Crown Prince Shadow wants to help those around him no matter the danger; including the battered little hedgehog sold into his father's care who saved his life. But his mysterious savior is not an easy one to crack nor does he seem to want the help of his master. Combine that with a stubborn father and a dying kingdom, and Shadow's fighting a war on two fronts.
With so much against them, a friendship seems unlikely. But anything can happen, given the proper time.

Shadow is obviously not exempt from this. It's nothing too hard for a bioengineered hybrid to take care of.

Summary
Life for Sonic has been turned upside down after Kintobor murdered the rest of the royal family and took the throne for himself, imprisoning most of his friends and family--including his siblings, Sonia and Manic--in grueling work camps. Things get even crazier when in a desperate attempt to stage a coup, he gets kidnapped and dumped on the ship of Captain Shadow, a privateer employed by Kintobor. It might have been a little more cut and dry if he weren't falling for the captain and his first mate too. Can Sonic get back and save his friends and his siblings before it's too late?
