Summary
When Sonic is sold to the Doom Empire, he finally accepts the reality that he will never regain what he lost years ago. And then he saves the life of the crown prince and discovers that there's more to him than meets the eye. Perhaps he's not so different from the blue hedgehog after all, but Sonic's not counting on it. Especially when his inner demons seem insurmountable, where even a simple song can be painful to sing.
Driven by a promise made long ago and despite his own heartaches, Crown Prince Shadow wants to help those around him no matter the danger; including the battered little hedgehog sold into his father's care who saved his life. But his mysterious savior is not an easy one to crack nor does he seem to want the help of his master. Combine that with a stubborn father and a dying kingdom, and Shadow's fighting a war on two fronts.
With so much against them, a friendship seems unlikely. But anything can happen, given the proper time.

Summary
Five years have passed since the Doom Empire fell. Five years of planning that's about to come to fruition.
When a messenger from the rebellion in New Yolk (once the site of the Doom Empire's capital city) arrives with a rumor for Sonic, the hedgehog leaps at the chance to get revenge at those that harmed the people he loved. But it's not as easy as it appears, with a tangled web of words and actions. Everyone has their secrets and their motives. The shadows are full of secrets, promises, and deals are made. The line between truth and lies, friends and foes, and dark and light has fogged and blurred beyond recognition.
But one thing is clear in Sonic's mind: he will do what he must, no matter the cost.
