For a Madrigal, a mirage was the life they envisioned for themselves. The pressure point was their existence constantly being pulled in opposing directions. And perfection was the sacrifice they carried for the Familia; each carrying a secret, stitched into their soul, never to see the light of day.
Isabela is covered in roses, the equivalent of golden. In reality, she's vain; all lies.
Dolores is understanding, always lending an ear. In truth, she's untrustworthy; a gossip or scandal.
Luisa is reliable, her strength unwavering. In fact, she's only useful; otherwise, she's too much.
Camilo is efficient, a laugh and helping hand. Behind closed doors, they're fake; an imposter.
Mirabel is ordinary, regardless of no gift, she's helpful. No one will say it, but she's not special; she's a nuisance.
Antonio is the future, a promise for empathy. To himself, anxiously, he whispers "no gift, no gift, no gift, please." -

Auradon had never given any indication other than disdain towards the people of the Isle. So why? Why was the crown paying attention to the children of the island? Why now, was the new soon-to-be king set on retribution? Evie frowns, it makes no sense to her. It makes no sense to anyone really other than Maleficent who has taken it upon her to come up with a plan for the children who will be leaving.
