"Who is it, Daddy?" Alex was peering at them both, practically tugging on his arm for attention.
"It's, it's John, Alex. It's John. Okay, uh, let's get into the house. Alex, can you help your cousin get into the house?" Rodney pulled John up, struggling but he got him up to his feet and Carson was close, there.
John's leg was folding up on him even as Carson took his other side, slipping an arm under his shoulder. "Easy there."
"C'mon, Maddie!" Alex called out even as Jeannie was standing there watching in stunned amazement.
John wasn't dead. Or John was dead and this was some alternate universe John, or, or, Rodney didn't know because it was the SGC and there were so many possibilities up to and including that John didn't die but ascended and was eventually kicked out of the super-human party and descended. "Did the Apollo just think it was a good idea to beam you down here? How did you even get back, what happened, you were..."
"Apollo?" John sounded a bit dazed which was unsurprising since he'd just been hit by a sled. "No, I came on my own. Well, Sweetheart flew me here from orbit."

J is a de-ascended Ancient but only gets his memories back after being zapped by an artefact. He's almost Adria-like in powers. Once he's revealed after ending the wraith with an experimental weapon, Earthlings are greedy. He shows them. Sam shows some remorse but she threw him to the wolves. Oh and Chaya is a stalker with Ori tendencies.

After Arcturus literally blew up in Rodney's face, he didn't know how to make it right. So he swallowed his pride and reached out to Samantha Carter for help. Sam knows Rodney better than he understands. She decides to send him not only what he asks for, but what he really needs. After all, if these people don't listen to the truth when Rodney speaks it, she'll find someone better at getting the point across.

Life's what happens when you make other plans.
Rodney McKay gets back from his unjust Siberia exile and takes a consulting gig that lets him work from home. He picks a random city, gets a cat, and starts cultivating his eccentricity.
His upstairs neighbor is an insanely hot guy whose cop uniform either means the obvious, or that his night job is a stripper. Rodney doesn't care which, he's busy becoming the old lady with the twitching lace curtains who watches everything. (And, yeah, thinking about what that strip routine might look like. Are those real handcuffs?)John Sheppard quit the Air Force in a last-ditch attempt to save his marriage, since there was a kid on the way. It didn't work, and in fact backfired spectacularly, so now he's left with child support payments and a mortgage on a house he doesn't live in (his dad's a dick), an ex-wife who still loves him enough to yank more little bits out of his heart every chance she gets, a kid he gets to see for a few hours every other week, and a job where he gets shot at almost as much as the one he used to love that he quit. (He's a cop. He's okay at it. That's a hard adjustment to make.)
But at least his new downstairs neighbor is hilarious.Series
